No idea - but I can see how it would drive you insane!

I'm going to make a sandwich, seeing as I have NO EGGS to poach!! Grrrr

Hope you get it sorted soon... x

I have a dark, distant memory of this happening to someone on a horsey forum, but can't remember how they sorted it! No help, really, am I?!?

Assuming you have a desktop pooter and not a lappy, I would suggest checking all leads are firmly plugged in. If that doesn't help - I will ask the techies when they get in from work/college if it isn't sorted by then.

I've just googled pink screen- might be worth reading some of it- I'm not a techie, so can't explain some of the suggestions- but it did suggest checking the cables are in properly.
Out of interest- have you turned off everything - and unplugged them ( including router) for a few minutes, and then started up again.
Sometimes works for me if there is some kind of blip- well it does beat kicking the darned thing!!!!

Do let us know when you find out the problem!

Well...I 've never had any problems unplugging the router from the wall- you just will/may need to log back in- so if you don't know how to do that ..then LEAVE it to Andi!!!!!!!

unplugging the router is fine ...... but pink sounds dodgy to me ........ now a nice shade of purple or black would be much nicer

you haven't stuck a magnet (speaker) or anything next to the monitor have you, that can affect the colour...... as son found out in mad panic when he changed his room round and his telly went weird colours.

Lynda I've got speakers next to the monitor....where else should they be....but they've always been there & not caused this up until now?
Anyway...only popped back to see if the pink had gone...dinner won't get cooked whilst I'm on here,so I'll let you know if we sort it later....just hoping it's not an early sign of a terminally poorly PC!

Speakers have magnets in them which can cause colour problems if they are unshielded. If they came with the PC and you haven't moved them recently then it's not that.

If the monitor is a CRT (big telly type) rather than LCD (flatscreen) then it may need de-gaussing.

if yours doesn't do it automatically, depends how old your monitor is.

if it's a new flat screen though, its not that.

Do you have a laptop? If you do, you can try plugging in the monitor into the laptop. This will tell you if the problem lies with the Screen and cable or with the base unit.

If it works fine on the laptop, the fault is on your base unit, otherwise the fault lies with the cable or the screen.

If you don't have a laptop, unplug and replug the cable from the monitor to the pc (you can unplug and replug this cable while the PC is on).

                          If this didn't work:
If it's an old style screen,(ie not a flat screen/LCD screen, the ones that are about as thick as a laptop screen) deguassing might help but if it's not the cable and it's the old style, it might be the colour guns or the graphics card(in the base unit)...

Would suggest that if you don't have a spare screen lying about, you borrow one quickly just to test. If their screen works, then you know your graphics card in your base unit is ok and you just need to get another screen.

                          Hope this all makes sense

Ooooh'eurgh!!!Up until just a sec ago it was still pink, but before mine very eyes it's gone a rather disturbing green colour...but now I feel like I'm lying, cos in the time it's taken to type this I think it's actually pretty much back to normal....just a bit flickery!.....I have just popped my glass of wine by the monitor....so maybe it was all just withdrawal symptoms!!
I think we've got a spare monitor somewhere....I'm doubting Andi's gonna fancy going into either the loft or garage looking tonight,so I guess I'll wait til tomorrow....Cheers again for all the suggestions,Di.x
(P.S....it is a rather large monitor...from the front to back is about the same as my fingertips to my elbow...so by no stretch of the imagination is it anything anywhere near modern!)

I use a mix of six scoops of compost three scoops of sand/grit and two scoops of perlite, the quantity is unimportant as long as the ratio is the same, if for seeds I use this mix, if I am potting on I add some blood, fish and bone, along with a small quantity of chicken manure pellets
