  • I'm Jealous! I want one......

Just seen on the telly, a greenhouse of awesome proportions!

It's 480m (1575ft) long and can fit terminal 5 inside it twice with room to spare!
Full climate control and Lighting control etc

I'm so jealous I'm turning a brilliant shade of green ( Quick help Bride)

Terminal five? Twice? Come on there's only so many tomatoes a person can eat.
Into each life some rain must fall........but this is getting ridiculous.

They're planning on building another 6 making it 7 in total. Apparently 1 can produce 15% of Britain's salad requirements.

                      hmmm controversial.

'real' food is only viable if there is enough land to grow it.
this is a move towards the country cutting back on importing veg, cuts the carbon footprint etc.
taste? well its never going to be the same as home grown, but again, not enough land to make that viable, look how many of us are waiting for allotments?
varieties will suffer, they will concentrate on ones that work for that particular system.

always wanted to try hydroponics though.

When I watched HFW the other day, I was practically packing my bags and planning to move in with him when I saw his huge polytunnels!!

I've seen the giant greenhouses in Kent and it's no wonder the locals aren't keen. They look bloody awful!

These greenhouses don't reduce the carbon footprint of the produce . The energy required to heat and light them is way more than what it takes to bring a load of tomatoes from Spain that have been grown outside.
There comes a point in your life when you realize who matters, who never did, who won't anymore and who always will. Don't worry about people from your past, there's a reason why they didn't make it in your future.
