| Wow - looks like a proper factory line! Have you somewhere for them to go when they've grown up a bit? Thats the tricky bit we found when starting stuff early. Last year we walked trays full of seedlings down and up to and from the unheated greenhouse every day - the extra light really made a difference, but we filled the kitchen table every night! ![]() Oh and make sure you don't get the shelves top heavy or wobbly, or there could be a disaster.

| That's not all the syrup I have either! I do use quite a lot in baking but I also have a garden planting idea that involves printed cans, so was unable to resist the Lyle's anniversary tins!I've never had it in a sandwich - sounds very decadent! ![]() Planted quite a bit this morning but I did manage to be relatively restrained and just plant a very few of each thing ![]() Last edited by Seahorse; 01-01-2008 at 12:55 PM. |

| Blimey Seahorse, you're well armed with the right equipments and lots of them! There's something wrong with me but I hate buying things so I collect lots of punnets (deepest possible and they usually have drainage holes) as my seed tray and use my kitchen window sill as growing space. I once asked my OH to make me a shelf half way up that window but he said, No way! Okay I hate the thought of walking up to my new greenhouse in the cold as it's not that close enough to the house (I can suffer from frozen hand syndrome). That shelf you got there looks like something I will definitely need eventually whether I like it or not, so where did you get that and how much does it cost? I'm thinking of looking at Ikea (or similar) basic shelf in case they're any cheaper.

You've made me wonder if I could put the whole thing on the kitchen worktop in front of the window now... off to investigate!!! ![]() |

You can also use other sunny-side window using lower table than an average height kitchen worktop but for us, it blocks the view of our back garden. On the window sill, I still have to watch out for them as they tend to get leggy so I transfer them to the outer window sill where I can still keep an eye on them from the kitchen obviously now is too cold.

![]() When asked "Why treacle and banana?" he replied " Well you know how it is when you eat a banana sarnie and the banana shoots out the side?...................not so with a treacle and banana sarnie as the treacle glues it in!"![]()
