Hayfever already? Sorry for sounding dim but are the pollens drifting about at this time of the year? I can't be sure but taking Green Tea capsule may have helped me stop catching hayfever for the last 2 years or so.

Could be bed mites they live on flakes of skin and it matters not how clean you are they will almost certainly be there.
The best way to rid your self of them is to vacuum the mattress.
I have had this problem for years.
Ps launder your duvet & if you have them feather pillows.

Not much help I'm sure- but I've just seen on French TV a mayor in Switzerland recording the first date of bud burst of what looked like a chestnut tree. Apparently the town has a plaque which is filled in every year for what looked like the same tree....in the last 50 yrs the date has moved forwards from April to mid Feb ( ie last week)
Not suprising that you have early hayfever Shortie if that is the case!
Why not ask your GP to refer you to an allergen clinic?? Will proberly take months, but it may determine whether it's from inside the house or outside!

Not nice either way

I didn't realise they could tell what you were allergic to? Though saying that my contact lense optician thinks I'm "silently" allergic to our cats. Not bad going seeing as I'd never mentioned I *had* cats

A proper allergen test will make you look like a speckled hen shortie!!
At least it would sort out the problem!

Lol... yes I'd probably be allergic to the hen too

If hoovering the bed doesn't help, I'll look into how much the cost to get done...

The only thing recently in the house is Lillies, but they've been open for a week so I guess I would have shown symptoms before today..?

I blame global warming. Seems to be the cause of all other ills these days, so why not this one???
I was talking to the boss last night, and she told me there are the first signs of movement on 2 of the cherry trees, and one of the apple trees "appears to be doing something". Not quite Titchmarsh but there is clearly movement. Perhaps there is pollen in the air already??

I was thinking on the bed mites thing last night and remembered something I forgot last night... my Dad's also got the itchy eyes and sneezing (lives next door, lol). He's allergic to the Silver Birch that line our road, but I don't think they're in bloom yet (actually I can't even see any leaves on the one outside our house)... I was down the lottie with him the other day so it could easily be anything from there I guess?

Mind you, still going to strip the bed and hoover it today....

A lot of people have been complaining of Hayfever already, including myself and Steve Wright in the Afternoon. Apparently Hazel (not on the Hill) and Yew are the culprits at the moment.

Well, I've got my second dose of 2008 hayfever now. My nose had been tickly all day, then someone said my eyes were red and bloodshot - so I rubbed them ... BIG MISTAKE !! Now they itch like mad and it's getting worse. (It's not rapeseed, that doesn't bother me)

Oh joy - just found some old antihistamines in the cupboard.

I used to get hayfever badly as I was from NYC where there is little in the way of greenery and when I came here 15 yrs ago, I was done in for the first ten years. I gave up dairy (it is an aid in mucus production) for the heavy pollen months and drank alot of eyebright tea (stops the red, runny eye thing) and now I hardly notice it. Hope it works for you as the drugs are a drag.

Strange, I started to read this thread and started sneezing and sneezing. How did that happen?

Like some of you I'm alergic to pollen, dust mites and cats. Doesn't stop me from gardening or keeping cats, I just get used to it. It's easier to cope with the red eyes and runny nose than the sneezing. Everything stops for a sneeze.

The easiest and best remedy I've tried is a bit of vaseline around the edge of your nostril traps any pollen.

I but a job lot of hayfever remedy each time I am in the Us; so much cheaper over there. Nowadays though, you have to show Id and give all your details over as it can be used to make crystal meth!!! Still buy it, it's just more hassle.

But, for the same price of a month's worth over here I can get a year's worth over there.

I've been snoregasm free thus far this year; no doubt it's just round the corner.

I developed a really sore throat at about 11pm on Tuesday - self medicated with red wine but now have hay fever, luckily just in the nose which is running like a tap and itchy itchy.

I always get it every year at this time and have always blamed it on tree pollen. The wood behind us is full of silver birch, or perhaps I'm allergic to camellia and magnolia which seem spectacularly good this year round here. Haven't seen any catkins yet, but perhaps I just haven't looked hard enough.

If it gets really bad I find Allium Cepa (homeopathic thingy) works.
