  • I have failed ...

    ... to keep my temper with my little nephew (3)

    I tried really, really hard. He's been here for about 40 hours, and awake for only 18 of those.

    He has:
    * flushed toys down the loo
    * floated the soaps and bath things in the bath
    * turned on the taps and left them running (I tightened them as much as I could)
    * taken 2 hours to eat his breakfast - and spattered it all over the floor too
    * redecorated my white chair with tomato sauce
    * opened the (locked) back door and took himself outside
    * taken my guinea pig out of the cage and dropped her on the ground
    * broken a tree ornament
    * stamped on a bag of chocolates
    * taken my butter out of the fridge and put it in the bin
    * left the fridge door open 3 times. Ditto freezer (looking for ice cream)
    * swung down the banisters
    * swung off my curtain
    * kicked his drink across the floor - twice
    * banged my glass kitchen doors repeatedly - and put sticky handprints all over the glass (I've left them open, left them shut ... he is just fascinated with banging glass doors)

    All while I am only in the next room trying to make food, or fetch a drink, or answer the door. I don't leave him unattended or anything. He is really quick, quiet & sneaky ... you literally cannot take your eyes off him.

    I am at my wit's end with him ... he is SO naughty. I would never smack him, but he is immune to shouting and threats of no sweeties. Nothing seems to work. I have now resorted to sticking him in front of the electric babysitter so I can wash up without him killing himself.

    update: while I was typing this, he's sneaked back out the (locked) back door again

    LOL, how well I remember those times. We had locks on the fridge and freezer but younger son soon learned how to combat those in his quest for ice cream.

    How much longer do you have to tolerate him?

      aw bless sounds like your nephew is like mine, sis has had no end of trouble with him over xmas, and has now resorted to the naughty step, which of course doesn't work cos she hasn't the time to stick to it.

      nail his left foot to the floor in the middle of the lounge, always worked for mine
