You need defensive tactics - when they come out, you and the rest of your office need to walk around with smurks on your faces, and every now and again, nod, cock an eyebrow (if you can) and make a Graham Norton style Hmmmmmm noise.

It won't stop anyone being sacked but it will make the management wonder what you've all been up too. It takes about 20 mins before the giggles set in.

Having been through two rounds of redundancies already in the last 12 months, one can't help but wonder.

yep i know that feeling, lots of secret meetings behind closed doors at our place too.. there used to be 50 staff in our office, now there are 15 and even the top bosses seem to be jumping ship

Oh dear, really hope it doesn't turn into what you think it might be.

We've got a 'management meeting' due to start at 11 today, almost exactly three months after our last round of redundancies...which means they could do it again if they wanted to. I've bitten my nails down to nothing as I'm really only doing half a job at the moment. My project has finished (client cancelled their contract), so no Materials Controlling to do except tidy up the loose ends, and I cover Reception from 8-1 just while our proper Receptionist is on Maternity - yeah, I'm screwed!!
