  • I Don't Even Like Tennis...

I think I have just about recovered from tonight's tennis with Andy Murray, I kept the faith when he was 2 sets down - where were you, sascinachs(?)

He showed more personality tonight than Tim nice-but-useless, in one single match!

OK - I expect to be slated but hey we scots don't get a lot to shout about - we are responsable for Gordon (oh, the shame).

Anyway, don't like it, we'll take our scotsman back and go home!

    Rant over!

I think it is one of the top five tennis matches I have ever seen. I think Nadal will beat him, but the last time he played Nadal was just about as exciting as today's game. I think he (Andy Murray) will go up in the rankings as he missed Wimbledon last year. I must look up ATP.

Sadly, I agree may Nadal will do it - but hey, gorgeous arms

Is that why Andy flexed his?

If arms have anything to do with it - Nadal!

The last time Murray played Nadal he won the first and third sets and at that time he was not as strong or as fit as he is today - it was in the Australian Open. When you look up the stats, it's strange to find that Andy Murray is only 12 pounds lighter than Nadal. I'm sure it will be a great game anyway.

I remember a Monty Python scetch about scotsmen playing tennis, they wore kilts and 'see you, Jimmy' wigs. Something about the scots being rubbish at tennis............

            - anybody rember that

            Love to see it again

Must admit I've been drawn in, but sadly missed last night's match - it was too nice to sit indoors and watch anything!

Hopefully will catch some of it tomorrow, as I'm really pleased that a Brit is doing so well. I think Andy Murray is in his prime, now, so I've got everything crossed for him.

It was a superb match - Murray finally displaying some true grit against a very stubborn opponent - shame either had to lose really - but a great spectacle.

Wish him well against Nadal - but even though grass is not Rafa's best surface - I think he is more likely to progress. I'd also like to add that I sincerely hope that I am wrong!

Don't forget that 'if' Murray and Federer do get to the final - he has taken the Federer scalp once before! However Roger will be keen to use the skills of his seamstress/embroiderer to embellish yet another crown on his jacket!

I used to hate everything about tennis until I started playing. Now I love it and I get so excited when the tournaments are on. It good the Murray finally showed some personality, players without personality make for boring matches, I won't go into names, but I'm sure you know how I mean.

I'm just glad that the players actually have rallies now. For a while I really hated the serve, volley wimbledon game. I think it shows just how important clay has become in the modern game.
I'm only here cos I got on the wrong bus.

You're right, Mikey. I noticed in the match the other day that there were some nice rallies. Not so much gym-style grunting, either.

I noticed the rallies in that match too, makes a change doesn't it. I just wish Andy Murray would smile once in a while, he comes across as a miserable devil a lot of the time! I long for the old days when we had nutters like Ilie Nastase playing, now he was entertaining! (Showing my age there!)

Lest we forget that Tim reached the semi finals on 3 seperate occasions - 2 of which he lost to one of tennis' greats Pete Sampras. The other he lost to Ivanisevic who also went on to win the final.

Andy Murray can't really help the fact he has a monotonous voice, I suffer the same affliction, but lets not get focus and personality mixed up.

I do wish that the players would do less grunting - the women especially. I hope Murray wins, but he'll have a tough fight on his hands with Nadal, and tougher still should he face Federer.

Couldn't give a toss if he's Scottish to be honest - I only ever saw Tim Henman as British, let's just get behind him.

I have to admit, I changed channels after the second set. Frustrating to watch and he'd given up long before the third set.

                              I watched celebrity Mastershout instead.
