  • I didn't want to drink, but ...

    ...I've been driven to it!

    1) we've moved house. The phone, TV, and windows don't work. All in various states of disrepair, awaiting repair-men who may or may not turn up on the appointed day.

    2) The house smells of tomcat. I have poured 20 litres of soapy shampoo on the living room carpet, which the cat apparently used as a urinal, and Vaxed up 20 litres of poo coloured liquid. Foul. The house now smells of shampoo flavoured cat pee.

    3) I wisely decided to have my little niece over, while I am still unpacked and stressed out. She'd been here not 30 minutes before I heard the refrain "I'm bored ..."

Here's the vacuum love, I'm off for a glass of port that I found under the stairs.

In our old house a Tom used to come & pee up our front door & then our cat would feel the need to pee up the inside of said door to reaffirm his ownership I presume~soaking into the wood & carpet.I tried so much to get rid of the smell but like you say would just end up with a highly perfumed cat pee smell!Found the only thing to work was distilled white vinegar sprayed where it smells~made it worse temporarily but once the vinegar smell had gone it took with it the cat pee.On the bright side at least it's summer & you can have your windows open!!Good Luck!!

Sorry~just remembered the 1st bit of your post,I'm hoping you can have your windows open!!

Try biological washing powder.... it's used by dog owners to remove the smell of wee on carpets etc so the dog doesn't feel the need to "mark" in the same place....

Just keep that glass away from Mr TS!

When we moved into our house we discovered that one of the previous owners' cats had used a corner of one of teh rooms as a toilet. The griper bars under the carpet had rotted away - even the metal "nails" had corroded.

You'll soon have it spick and span!

              Until then, enjoy that "port".

I hope you'll be very happy in your new home Two Sheds. And you will get it all sorted out. Just keep plugging away at it. But aren't some people amazing letting a house get into a state. How can they live in it. Amazes me.

Ditch the carpet. When we moved into a farmhouse I was forced to "buy" some of the fixtures and fittings. One of these was a revolting (but expensive) wool carpet in the sitting room. Two carpet cleaners (from the local supermarket) and then a professional cleaner, didn't get get rid of the smell of cats. We got rid of the carpet.

The bare floor for a year was deffo preferable.

firstly congrats on the move TS, did this last October and know the stresses of it all, once you get it around to your way you will be fine.

Secondly, WHAT DISGUSTING PEOPLE LET A CAT PEE IN A HOUSE!!!!! sorry but that is so annoying! i really feel for you

As a newly adopted cat owner, he is only allowed in the kitchen and study, where there are no carpets and i bought him a litter tray just in case, (he has been done so no spraying), but if he peed once, he would feel my boot up his backside and would only be allowed in the garden!!! lol!!!

(he adopted us 2 weeks ago as his previous owners moved and he wouldnt settle, we know the old owner and she has asked her to look after him, much to the kids delight and not mine or OH, mind you he is sweet!)

On the plus side - at least you've got a Vax...

I'd stay on the vimto - ditch the carpet and it will soon all be lovely.

                            So, how IS the garden.
