i was so pleased when i got the call last night,
almost didnt get to pick him up today, but by 6:30 i picked a one year old boy............................................... ............he has the most longest fluffyest ears ive ever seen on a rabbit but then he is a giant grey cross simon is his name and he loverly i already know its going to be hard to give him up but i will be strong, he will gets lots of tlc and loving he needs


will put up piccy when hes settled in a bit more

He's gorgeous. By fostering, is it until he finds a permanent home or while owners are ill/away?

my avatar piccy is not him, had him out today he needs loadssssssssss of space due to his size i mean he's hugeeeeeeee but then giant greys are.

In terms of fostering, i got roped (ok i didnt but...) story was, i was looking for a female to possiably mate with my gorgous grey dutch ( the ones with the white strip across the shoulders ) bunny so i could sell the babies, but the sanctuary was telling me how they are always inundated with unwanted rabbits guiena pigs and cats, and that thay have a fostering programme to help unloved mistreated animals. so what they do is treat them neuter them, but they dont have the space to care for them at the same time, so they ask people to volunteer there time and love to help pets gets recover and get used to a nice environment so they can be re-homed, so i figured it would be unfair then to really breed my one when theres loads of unwanted bunnies out there, so i signed up to help, i dont pay for anything other than the trips back and forth to the vets for there jabs and aftercare from operations, for instance this one i have came from a home and the lady was told he was a female dutch ummmmm when he was actually a male giant, he was homed in with 5 other male bunnies for which they were attacking each other, as they were all uneutered (sorry it does frustrate me with some people if you wish to get a pet you have to do research first)
but hes fine im treating him for mites but other than that hes fine so he was loved in a way, just the owner couldnt handle him, hes got to have his jabs and be "done" before he can go to a new home, theres surprisingly lots of places that do this, i think its quiet rewarding, only drawback is you dont know exactly what you are going to get, from shy, really poorly, vicious, to loverly,

I've never heard of it but I think its a great idea. Good for you.
I think more people should get their pets from rescue centres or foster.

Areia, how lovely I am a rabbit lover too. You are much more brave than I am, I would never be able to give them back!!!

meet simon my grey cross im fostering he escaped from my grasp this morning and promptly run to the other end of my garden and ate my raspberry leaves ( hes been eyeing them up for the last few days i knew it ) yesterday i let my house rabbit ( biggles the white and grey one )out much to his annoyance *hes a house bunny* for some much needed sun to top up the vitamin D they need, as soon as he saw him he was 'ooooooo who are you' ears forward, both curious ,for which simon then decides to display some dominance by throwing his toys around, haha his size wont matter in two weeks hes going to get 'done' then mine will claim dominance back, mine is desperate for some company but simon at the mo is not the one to be his best freind he is deffinatly a human rabbit as it where sits on your lap and wants lots of loves, mine loves lots of loves but he wants a ladddddddddddie freind, i still cant get over the size differance and simon still has some growing to do

Simon in gorgeous, I would love to foster some rabbits but my two house rabbits will not tolerate any other animals (other than my neighbours basset hound) anywhere near them. I think it might be due to the fact that I got them from a local rescue centre which had / has around a hundred bunnies at a time.

it is a disgusting price giants were breed solely for meat, but then you should never buy from a pet shop only ever from a breeder or the rescue centres. There are about 5 "giants" currently waiting for new homes, as people do not do there research, yes they are easy to look after, but its the time and space they need, when homeing a giant they either need the run of your house or the garden shed ( with run in garden ), there size is intimidating and although they are very placid breed but they are like small dogs they need space to exersize. and people wonder why there pets are agressive and tearing things apart oooooooooooooooooo i could rant for hours
