  • I am here for a rest!

I got in from the field on Friday evening at 08:30. No time even for a wash, nevermind a proper dinner, as we had to deliver somebody's van then go shopping, so it was straight out again (after a brief kitty cuddle).

I set off at 07:30 am to Cambridge the next morning and sat in the examiner's meeting all day, getting back home at 6:30pm. I popped straight round to my neighbours', as they were going away on Sunday, so I needed the key and instructions, then we left for a BBQ at 7pm (very quick shower!).

Got in after 11pm, then it was up at 07:30 next morning to go and meet OH's Uncle, who went with me to collect my new exmoor pony from Sittingbourne. We got back just before lunchtime, but I still couldn't rest, as I needed to mark standardisation scripts (to make sure we are being consistent with the mark scheme). Then at 6pm it was all go again as hay bales were lying in a field with my name on it, so me and OH went to load those up onto the truck and trailer (thankfully only 110 this year). We then delivered 80 to my friend's hubby (the one whose wife had the accident) and then delivered 30 to my field store. OH then had to collect his van from his yard (we were using a tipper truck), so I went via home while he put the trailer and truck away, then dropped him off there. I finally fell into bed at 11:10pm, with no shower after hay making.

I'm knackered!!! However, I didn't struggle with the hay making at all, so all my swimming and extra horse riding has paid off - I'm actually very fit!

Pics of the new arrival. She's the darker one (wearing the fly rug in three pics, but there were very few flies, so I took it off overnight). Don't they look sweet as a matching pair?-

Looks lovely. You going to ride her or is she a companion?

            Both, Fiona!

She was originally broken to ride (I haven't seen her tacked up, but she was only lead rein, anyway, so will treat her as newly backed). However, she was rescued not that long ago from travellers, where she became very nervous, reverting back to exmoor wildness! She has settled very quickly at my place, though, so a good sign!

I forgot to add feeding neighbours' cats on Sunday evening into that little lot!

Blimey SL take a breath for goodness' sake!

I'm really glad you got another Exmoor, I only know one Exmoor, but know what you mean about their wildness! It's great to see an animal that recognises it's own, if you know what I mean. My sister had a rescue Greyhound, who was quiet and placid until she saw another Greyhound, then she was mental! My TB is sane and sensible until he meets a local one who looks very much like him, then his brain just vanishes!

I hope they are happy together, can you ride and lead, coz they may hate being separated?

Far too early days to even think about taking her out. I tried to put fly spray on last night and you'd think I went at her with a chainsaw. Left the field feeling a bit of a failure, as after that she hated me, although I did manage to get the fly rug on after a battle (after the spray attempt, she thought everything I approached her with was to kill her!). Chopped up some carrots into tiny pieces and will start some Clicker Training with her this evening. Need to get her back on side, quick!
