  • I absolutely hate flies don't you?

Especially when I'm hot and bothered.

I had further reason to hate them this weekend.

We had a barbecue with some friends on Saturday. After the showers (see deluge/downpour/hailstorm) it still hadn't cooled down as much as I may have liked so I was on the verge of irritable. The leftover food was all covered over and we sat down in the lounge to try and cool off, and get Bean to go to sleep - so we kept the lights off as it was twilight kinda time.

After a while I was getting a bit peckish so popped out into the kitchen to get a plate of food. I loaded up and went back into the lounge, sat down and ate a couple of chicken wings. I picked up a third put it to my mouth and something flew in, buzzed about a bit and then flew out of my mouth again.

I didn't eat any more chicken.

    I bladdy hate flies!

I hate them too. With a vengeance. They all bite me (yes, even houseflies)

Very funny watching both chooks & kittens trying to catch the little blighters though!

But yes, we've just bought screens for all of our outside doors to try and keep them at bay. I am loathe to use fly spray but get more and more tempted with all this hot, humid weather.

        I absolutely hate flys don't you ???

We're over run with blue bottle flies round here, the girl who lives 2 houses from us hasn't put her bin out for the last 6 weeks, so you can just imagine how bad it is, OH has rang the environmental health up, that was 2 weeks since, but so far nothing has been done, its not nice because we can't sit outside without the filthy things buzzing round, i've tried to ask her to put her rubbish out, i've even offered to put some in our bin but she's just not interested.. i'm really at the end of my wits

Badger your local council Ginger, phone them everyday. Be relentless and they'll soon pull their fingers out. That's a health hazard now. Phone the Health & Safety people too.

What sort of person doesn't put their rubbish out?

There's now't strange as folks. We all pay good money to get the rubbish collected - one does wonder at some people.

We have lots of flies in the kitchen in the summer-the back door leading to the garden is open all the time.I was fed up with the flies dying on the windowsill as I hate these filthy b%&*$rs.I got a venus fly trap and placed in on the windowsill. This plant is absolutely brilliant-it's OH's baby and sometimes he even feeds it.
I don't know how to deal with the flies outside-it's just a nuisance and I'm sorry if you have too many in your place.I see one occassionally but I try to not to attract it any way.

Quick up date.....i've just got of the phone from enviro....apparently because shes "PRIVETE" rented, they can't make her move her rubbish without going through her " LANDLORD" . I told them we've already tried that approach, and that was a waste of time, same ignorant approach as her .
The lady said she would.... "RE-LOG" the incident, with the hope it would be rectified as soon a possible ..how long is that going to take i asked, reply...i'm not right sure ...we're under staffed.... i could do with a very large glass of red

I loathe flies!! With so many trees in the garden there's always loads of them getting in the kitchen windows. Maggots make me seriously ill just seeing them, after having seen a fly-blown sheep once

I've got horses (the new one has sweet itch, an allergy to fly bites) and react badly to horsefly bites. Nuff said. Poxy things.

We found ourselves in the middle of a fly infestation thing just outside Perth a few years ago - very bad even by Aussie standards. They didn't bite, but would land wherever there was a trace of moisture...including the rim of your eyelids/tongue/mouth (if you were mad enough to open it to complain about the b****y flies!) Nice!

Are you able to run round and put it out for her, just as the bin lorry comes round?
