  • How was it for you?

    My weekend:
    Saturday
3 hours at lottie in morning, whilst Snowdrop did shopping and cooked my lunch
Afternoon was watching rugby with pint or two in hand

    Sunday:
Leisurely cooked breakfast by me, washing dishes by he
2 hour bike ride around Oxfordshire in morning
1 hour on home garden whilst himself was cooking a barbie

I am now glowing nicely from the sun, fresh air and wind in my hair - bring on the week .....

    Mine:
    Sat
went to the local nursery and bought up netting, long and hooped canes, auto spray pump and other goodies.
went to lottie and put up a cage over brassicas to keep the pigeons off.
went home for lovely lunch made from leeks, shallots, onions all from the garden.
went back to lottie with other half and his daughter - she got bored after 10 mins so he took her home after she sprayed the potatoes with Dithane - but together we finished off the cage, put up a 6 foot bean lean to, and he weeded a potato bed.
    went home and had tea
planted out toms into newly cleared out ex leek beds.
harvested first 3 strawbs of the year and had them all to myself
went to bed early as still recovering from the laser surgery and getting quite tired still.

    Sun:
OH spent 2 hours at lottie and finished off weeding two potato beds. came back hot and sweaty so he was kicked straight into shower.
harvested first aurora tomato of the year which went into a avocada and onion salsa
OH's family came round for a couple of hours and we took a stroll [at their request] to the lottie
came back and went straight to sleep - had 2 hour power kip
got up and made tea, and will be planting out the non-moon trial veg this evening.

Managed to avoid sport all weekend, and the OH will be watching it tonight whilst I am in the garden.

He's also quite good at all the stuff I don't like; he's currently washing up; and last night he spent 2 hours ironing. He's neat and tidy whereas I'm a 'bohemian collector of 'stuff'' - so I can rely on him to put stuff away after I've got it out. I'll no doubt be offered a cuppa by the time I've finished typing this!

Found him on t'internet! well, he found me actually - was probably looking for someone to look after.

what a lovely sunny and busy weekend!

Sat - cut the lawn, deweeded my veg patch, cleaned out the guineas, sorted out my composter, cleaned the patio part of the garden ready for new table & chairs to arrive this week, more washing etc, usually motherly and wifey duties. Picked first 6 strawberries - delicious, yum yum! In the evening collected at least 50 snails and 20 slugs from the garden!

Sun - washing & ironing, sunday roast, cleared the radish about to bolt, fed the leaves to mine and neighbours guineas, picked all the spinach about to bolt, deweeded veg patch again, thinned out radish and sowed some more beetroot, thinned out caulis, sowed some more sunflower seeds and placed organic slug pellets around my plot and borders, cause i am sick of the things!! Also re-filled the beer traps. Just about to go on the snail/slug hunt again!!

Another busy weekend and an OH in a good mood cause he is really impressed with my hard work in the garden and it looks smashing!!

              Over too quickly as usual...

Saturday, got up, made simple breakfast (toast & tea) for LadyWayne, watched telly for a bit then went to see my brother on his new stall in a local market (he's doing drama classes for kiddies), then went shopping. Got back and started cooking for friends coming for dinner that evening with their 3 month old boy. Had fun times.

Sunday, got up, bacon sarnies for breakfast then disappeared down to the plot for several ours, got some decent work done, got hot went home to find LadyWayne had done the washing and ironing (shirts for the week) and made pizza for dinner. Sat down and watched telly for a bit, then updated the blog went to bed and here we are....

sat: worked (boo) but finished at 3 and had a naughty chinese takeaway

sun: did race for life in the morning then spent the afternoon pruning a bush that was trying to move into the house, did monster weeding session in the plots, gave the house plants a big drink and a few hours sun bathing and then when the night came i played seek and destroy with the local slugs (i think i won).

only problem is that i didn't do any house stuff so now i must clean, wash, iron, shop and bake!!!

Sat: Was slow to get moving, until the cat threatened to report me to the RSPCA if I didn't get up and serve breakfast. Lots of coffee later, I went riding. Pony had all the go of a slug on valium. I followed his example and spent most of the afternoon lazing around, thinking about how I *should* clean the house. Ate out in the evening, after clearing up slimy slugs as an appetiser and watering the plants/veg. Yummy. Then went green laning and saw a couple of owls, but mostly wabbits.

Sun: More coffee. Pony still got all the go of a drugged slug, but saw a slow-worm and a faun/fawn ...aw heck, I can't remember the spelling!!!! Went home and had a salad lunch which included my own lettuce - hurrah! Followed that by taking down TWO garden sheds and throwing most of the contents (helpfully dumped there by the previous owners) and storing all the tools in a barn. We cleared the area, also cleared my torn out kitchen from the garden and broke off for eatin, then collected my new shed in the evening. This is actually a very posh, wooden, wendy house type affair which came free, complete with window boxes!! We also moved a new shed for OH from someone's trailer to the barn. Went back to the owner of the trailer, to return it and drink wine. Hurrah!

Friday Night, Mowed Lawn and weeded beds at home, for kids to play.

Saturday, Worked, missed rugby, then went shopping for compost, dug over new raised bed and planted it out potage stylie. Felt much better.

Sunday, went swimming, over to lottie for some weeding and a quick natter. Home for lunch, pruned three trees deposited waste at recycling centre then remaining afternoon spent checking out local NGS gardens open. Some tips stored for later , cooked tea, wandered over to lottie for some watering, and to earth up some maincrop tatties, put some sharp sand around my beans to keep the slugs out of it, and home for a well earned cool glass of homemade lemonade.
