Its well worth a watch on IPlayer. Such a fantastic history of our gardening habits. It has it all -dig for victory, size queens, Percy Thrower, Geoff Hamilton (who was your inspiration?) Changing garden styles etc etc
          Brill :-)

Yes, I thought that - it started with dig for victory and public areas being turned over to vegetable growing. And now everyone is doing it again!

I enjoyed the programme too, it was lovely seeing the bits of old films especially the one with Wesley Kerr (not sure if that's his name) who usually does films for Chelsea flower show, I loved the films of him playing in the garden as a toddler & the 'swimming pool' his parents dug out in the back garden & lined with concrete. It showed how fashions change & how even the 'experts' still disagree on what is acceptable or not in a garden.

I loved the programme - only problem, someone rang in the middle and I missed a big slice of it. I hope it gets repeated.
