  • The house is shaking

Some of you may remember a plane crash a couple weeks ago, which involved two from here. It is the funeral of one this morning - it will leave from here very shortly.

We currently (as I type) have a Chinnock doing a display in honour for them, prior to drive out - he has just taken a 'bow' right next to my garden - amazing stuff!!

woooooo - he is now flying along the runaway sideways and doing another bow - and now another ....ooops all the flowers on my runner beans appear to have fallen off

Must be an incredible thing to see Piskie. Shame about the circumstances though. Hope your beans recover

I love choppers, though Mr Sheds hates them (they take him out to the rigs and are right rickety old things apparently).

I saw the Harrier doing a bow at our Airshow, seconds before it ditched

A few weeks ago I was sitting here typing away as you do...minding my own business....and suddenly my home shook. Even the birds stopped singing for a few secs. ( my house has 2 foot granite walls!!)

Wasn't long enough to be an earthquake...and there is a quarry a few miles away- but I've never felt a shake in the 10 months we've been here.

I asked a local who did the Gallic shrug....and then when I asked if they had supersonic planes overhead looked at me wiz raised eyebrows.....Ah ha!!! thought I....military supersonic plane being taken out for a run.

We do have jets flying very low handling the hills - you can sometimes see their helmets when they bank round!

I wonder if that is top secret info about the supersonic bang????...never heard one before!

Think of the insurance claim on that....take more than a bit of filler to sort that.

Our house shakes with the RAF aircraft which come over quite often at this time of year. Not very often chinooks, usually biggish, black, very fast, very very loud things...

We have had a bit of a rest bite of late every Saturday and Sunday at 4pm and then few times in the week we would have a small twin engine jet fly low (500ft max) over our house taking off. Till it crashed in to the posh houses over the way last year. Oups... BIt worring as it could have landed on us.

My sympathy to the families of the people involved.
I live in a low population density area and we get the jets on their low flying excercises.
I hate them. Sometimes I think they are coming in the windows and I can see their helmets.
I used to live on the flight path for Concorde. I was a nervous wreck and my 2 year old could swear - BLOODY CONCORDE.

Worse reasons to lose a few runner beans, eh? I live very near both RAF Waddington and RAF Scampton, so regularly see both active service and display planes in the air. I'm still impressed and awed, after many years!
I was feeling part of the scenery
I walked right out of the machinery
My heart going boom boom boom
"Hey" he said "Grab your things
I've come to take you home."

Only those on the plane died...the house it hit, the people were on holiday annd they think the pilot was aiming at the field behind it and fell short....If he had gone down earlier he would have killed scores on the ground.

I always worry at air show day as wehave had a few go down in our woods over the years.

I'm sure the jets use our house as dummy target practice, honest the one on Thursday was so low it was lucky to miss the trees
