Soon be the school hols!!!
What is your favourite place to go on holiday Home or Abroad?
I've never been abroad apart from EuroDisney.
My favourite place would have to be Cornwall.I love it!

Either side of Australia, and Portugal. Me and DH love surfing and the waves in all three places are the best. Light a fire on the beach, pair of fresh fish, couple of tinnies and a bottle of wine... and the surf crashing nearby... heaven...

What is this thing you call Holiday ??? I've been to West coast of Canada, Oz, most of Europe but still would prefer to be on West Coast of Scotland anywhere between Ullapool and Cape Wrath - Gairloch, Achiltibuie, Summer Isles, Sandwood Bay - just love it. However, no chance of a holiday for next few years anyway - too busy building my veg empire

Most holidays for us are camping ok if sun shines but not if wet !!! like most of the summer in England. Every year we intend to go camping in France travelling from Plymouth to Roscoff on the ferry but never make it for one reason or another. As i have only been to Benidorm over 30 years ago on my first honeymoon and Paris on my second honeymoon 13 years ago I cant say where my fave place would be. Bit fed up with Cornwall as been there so often, I live in Devon so would like to go somewhere different this year any one know of any good campsites ?

Mamgi's, plenty of space for DD to play, a view of three castles and rolling hills, a veg plot manicured to perfection, home cooked food from the rayburn. What more could a man want.

Its a bit of a misdescription thing really isn't, what with it not actually being on a island, unless you count the UK as part of the it. I do love the area though Harlech castle has some stunning views.

Favourite destination so far has been Sri Lanka - such a fantastic place, and very humbling. Looking forward to Tuscany in September, but I always love coming home after a holiday away.

I finished work yesterday and have the summer off until September. Now that is what I call a holiday. We will go to lake District and Norfolk beach, we don't do abroad as son very asthmatic and it makes me nervous. However, I love Italy.

Who on earth do you get to look after the plot, for that kind of duration?

South Africa, went there once brought back a husband.

But probably wouldn't bother now as the garden needs tending. If we went anywhere it would be Orkney or Norway. No flying involved.

Does that mean, one husband is enough?

Oh, We don't 'go' on holiday all that time, I meant in dribs and drabs. A lot of my time off is spent in a trance working on the allotment, talking to myself.....My husband only gets 2 weeks in the summer, thats when we will go to the lakes on a walking holiday(bet it rains!)whilst we are away we have some friends who want to crop and water the plot to give them a taster of the good life. I also intend to take kids on day trips into London to do theatre, art galleries, British Museum etc. Whether they like it or not. Culture.!

New York is the place for me. Would live there if the OH didn't have a daughter over here. Was born in Canada, we came over here in the early 70s, and never thought I would be able to afford to get to New York...so when I could I went as soon as possible.

It was fab.

And has been each time since.

Depends on the finances this year no money so no hols has to be said so happybunny and pal are in the kitchen as I type making bannana bread and fairy cakes and having a great time they visit the swimming pool yesterday and the beach the day before so even though its their first week off their not doing too bad.. Always remember doing day trips with my gran and grandad used to pack the windbreak and camping stove into back of the car and drive( mystery tour style) stop and cook full breakfast when we found a nice spot. It was great fun and such an adventure not knowing where we would end up!!

Well if the chiefs can have more than one wife......

We keep saying I should have gone to Norway first and brought back a Viking.

I like to get a bit of sunshine once in a while, and love south west France (on the coast south of Biarritz).

But I really love holidays in Ireland too. We used to go to Baltimore for years when I was small, then on to Spanish Point in Clare, a year in Clifden in Galway, and mum and dad have been going to Spanish Point again ever since (and again next week).

With OH, I have dragged him to Baltimore, we've gone to a couple of places in Galway, he has come on weekends down to Clare.

Last year and this year though, we are going to the town between where we both come from. Great food both in a few markets and fab restaurants, great beaches, plenty to do, loadsa family close by (both for catching up and babysitting!!). Really looking forward to it!!

I worked in Istanbul for a while in my teens & deffo want to go back~but for now we make do with a campsite set in Rendlesham forest(about 1/2hr drive away)beautiful setting, loads for the children to do in the woods, not far to drive to the beach..&most importantly only 1/2hr to endure the "are we there yet"moans from the back!!

We tend to go camping now, as we can't really afford a foreign holiday...

We're off to both Wales and Scotland at the end of August/beginning of September, one is a camping holiday, one is a rented cottage. The dogs will come with us on both holidays.

We'll probably buzz up to the Lakes for one or 2 weekends camping during the next couple of months, but since it's only a 45 min drive, it doesn't seem like a proper "holiday"

My mum or sister come and house sit for us whilst we're away, to look after the chooks and bunnies and veg patch. My mum always refers to it as her "holiday in the country"

Lol! Definitely right, tho I do believe that it was once an island, or so the history I read of it claimed, when they cut the new channel for the Artro to allow bigger boats to berth for the Llanfair slate from the mines! Mind you, I dont think it lasted long as an island before the older channel silted up and filled with sand dunes, but as a kid the lure of staying on a campsite that the road gets cut off by the rising tide was something special - even tho we did once get stuck on the island for 3 days after the one of the causeway bridges was washed away!

We haven't been on a proper holiday for a few years due to being too damm busy with work, but we do go away some weekends during the Summer.
We tend to go somewhere like Wales or further SW (Cornwall or Devon) and spend 2 or 3 days in a cosy cottage or log cabin somewhere quiet and away from everyone.

Last Summer we went to a small place near Myddfai in the Brecon Beacons National Park. The cottage had about 2 acres of garden/woodland that the kids loved and got lost in and there were great veiws of the Black Mountains from the garden. There was even a private fishing lake (not that we fish anyway).
I think the nearest person lived about 6 miles away.
It was so quiet and peaceful. We may go again this Summer if the weather improves.
