| Hi Thought I had best introduce myself. I am a thirty something from the middle of the UK. Hobbies include stitching, felting and knitting and now veggie growing (I hope). Yesterday I did something I have been considering for over a year and got myself an allotment. Having never grown any veggies (other than cress in an eggshell with a face painted on it) I am now wondering what I have let myself in for. The plot itself is very overgrown (I have a 50% discount on the rent since it is so overgrown) and will take quite a bit of work to get into shape but I am not scared of a bit of hard work. Allie |

| A warm welcome to the Vine from just up the road, Allie! Well done for getting a lottie - clear little by little, and plant up as you clear....potaotes are a cracking first crop, as they break up the ground, and smother the weeds! There's lots of encouragement to be had on here, and you're not alone having taken on an overgrown plot! Also make a plan, TAKE PHOTOS! and have great fun!

| Welcome aboard fellow thirty-somethinger. Plenty of advice and support here, don't be afraid to share, or ask questions - they're a helpful bunch! I just hang around here to annoy them really, and do the odd bit of allotmenteering in between. You'll soon get into the swing of it, and then the bug will bite and you'll be off. Good luck.

| Welcome to the 'Vine Allie ![]() I took over an overgrown allotment last year, and although it's not perfect & weed-free yet it still managed to be fairly productive last year, thanks to the advice and encouragement I had from the luvverly people here! I did go through a patch of thinking "I'll never do this", but as soon as I got my first stuff planted & growing, I got a 2nd wind (then a 3rd, & a 4th....) ![]() Feel free to have a look at my blog
