Oh god - what have I done?? It's not even January and I have just bought my first packet of new seeds. Some heirloom corn - bloody butcher. Just because it looks so pretty really.

What has been/will be the first item you have/are likely to buy for the next growing season?

I've been going through a T&M catalogue this morning and I must say the seeds for the out-of-the-ordinary seem expensive. Time to join the Seed Swap methinks. For somebody who said "I'm really not going to grow so many tomatoes next year", I seem to have been concentrating on the pages containing tomato seed!

I bought some online yesterday... 3 types of chillies: Fairy Lights, NuMex Twilight & Stumpy and some flower sprouts (saw them in GYO mag). Not going to buy any more though... I went through all my packets yesterday and it will be enough of a challenge to get through what I already have.

I've been sorting though my seeds, the Kokopelli seeds have arrived and the Kokopelli parraine (like being a seed guardian for the HSL) seeds have arrived too. Need to get some more broad bean seeds but those apart, that really is it for this coming year, I've still got two 45 litre seed boxes almost full of seeds to deal with!

Went to the garden centre on Monday. Ended up ordering manure and compost and came away with a windowsill propagator, 2 bags of bark for a £1 each, plant food and 10 packets of seeds including toms, carrots and cucumbers aaargh!

Excellent! I'm glad to see that it's not just me then.

Need to order some new strawberry plants and Kings have a good offer on at the moment and they just happen to have a new onion seed I want to try. Will phone them when I finish on the vine.
