  • Happy Mother's Day

To all the Yummy Mummy's on the Vine Hope you're being spoiled rotten one way or another

I have tea and toast, and my lappy, in bed all brought by my lovely #1 son. My lovely daughter has painted me a card with a beautiful rose on the front. #2 son is yet to make an appearance, but I fully expect to be treated to the rarity of a hug (tis only a twice a year event )

Big hugs to any of you who've lost your mum, it inevitably causes a pang or two today ((((hug))))

Oh, I am Jacob, I am, but trying not to get maudlin. Mine would have been 64 tomorrow, so I'll be hopping off to her memorial with some flowers later on.

Big Happy Mothers day to all! Eldest daughter at Uni (also doing assignment!) but bought me some sweet peas in advance, last time she was home. Youngest still in bed at the mo but I'm sure I'll get a hug from her when she surfaces!

I was woken around 9ish by my baby bearing a tray of weetabix and a glass of milk (not allowed to make tea yet in case of spills/burns), she then hopped in with me for a cuddle and warm her frozen feet on me!!
She made a lovely card, which will be put into my special box to keep, and I've got 4 packs of summer bulbs and a 60ltr bag of compost. Perfect!

Just had a nice long talk on the phone with my mum and I'll be seeing her Weds to give her presents and treat her to lunch.

Pangs of joy for some of us unfortunately, I'm really really pleased mine is dead and gone, she gave me hell for the first 46 years of my life and today is one of the days when I sit back and think how much better life has been for the whole family since she died.

I miss her not one bit but best wishes to all the children and mums who are close.

I read this this morning and it reduced me to tears Jacob! I lost my wonderful mum nine years ago, and today is always poignant. I was so lucky to have her, but not for long enough.

On a more cheerful note, I've had a lovely, if atypical mothers day - my daughter had a friend for a sleepover last night, so was far too busy giggling with her this morning to come in for her usual morning cuddle, plus one of my boys was also away at a sleepover, but at least my other son came in for a mums day cuddle - he's still not too big to do that at 11 . And I had a bottle of Pimms from the 3 of them, which I have just enjoyed a glass of - summers on its way
Life is brief and very fragile, do that which makes you happy.

I had a lovely day. Despite being woken at the crack of dawn with no1 son thumping in yelling 'mummy the cotton wool has fallen out of my ear' (he has got to have olive oil in as doc says they are completely blocked and that's why hes been shouting lately), OH made me a cuppa in bed (would have been happier had it been 8 something and not 7 something but hey-ho.
The boys got me the Gordon ramsey fastfood book and a bottle or organic rose wine whch OH tells me not to get a taste for so I guess it was more than we normally spend on a bottle lol. And a lovely card.
No1 son also made me a card at school and it's the first one he has written all the words himself which brought a tear to my eyes!

We spent the mornign pottering around the garden, and then went for lunch with my parents and nan and aunty. I am still stuffed.

The boys behaved beautifully and I was very proud

I have been busy today so havent had time to come on here and wish all mums a happy mothers day, especially all you mums who are experincing your first mothers day, hope you were spoilt by your partners, it always holds special memories.

I lost my mum nearly five years ago at the ripe old age of 92, she was Simply the Best.
My day started with my daughter and OH bringing me breakfast in bed complete with a huge card and flowers.
The In laws were coming for lunch so I had to help tidy up but OH got the dinner.
No 3 son and gf came round with card and flowers, No 2 son rang ( if he ever gets me anything I will wonder whats wrong lol ) had lunch then in laws went home and we went to the cemetry and planted a pot rose on my Mum and Dads grave and my daughter took a daffodill up to my sisters grave, No 1 son and gf came over with card and bottle of Beringer sparling wine. Oh is now cooking tea. So I have had a lovely day. Still to hear from son No 4 but he probably hasnt any credit on his phone lol.
                            Gardening ..... begins with daybreak
                            and ends with backache

Thanks I'm now in tears! (and I've held it together so well so far). This is the first mothers day without mine - she felt a little unwell one day then was gone 4 days later - 2000 miles away. Thankfully her friend rang me and I was able to get on a plane and be there 'in time' although she never woke up.

So sorry TonyF - I hope you have made a better life for yourself.

I'm so glad they're looking after you Sarwix Mend soon!
