  • Great start to the Easter weekend!

Quick history- Wednesday night my daughter who is riddled with chicken pox informed me that she had heard some glass smash? As she was dancing the 'itchy jig' whilst having lotion applied I thought nothing more of it.

Thursday night I get home from work, check the greenhouse to see what may or may not have put in an appearance only to find a nice hole in in greenhouse! Due to position of the greenhouse the only possible direction for the object to have come from was the house directly behind. I hear the lads in the garden so asked who had broken my glass and could they be more careful. Now obviously due to not having seen the incident or the exact time it took place I was careful not to go in 'guns 'a' blazin' but the yap I got from the mother was 'lovely'. 'Not my kids', 'they weren't here', your only picking on me cos I'm a single mum', 'I'm stupid having a greenhouse with kids' 'accidents happen...' and then to top it off ' not my problem cos I just rent it'

At this point the boss hearing the raised voices has come up behind me to explain that it is their problem as there is glass everywhere and we know the landlord at which point the 17year old son calls the Mrs an 'effing fat cow'.

You would not believe the difficulty I had not vaulting the fence at that point and 'explaining why you should not speak to my wife like that' Had to advise the Mum to have a word as I will not put up with that.

Anyhow this is the short version, however as a sign that I have clearly grown up I did not use any naughty words or raise my voice. I have also logged all this with the cops and started a diary incase this ends up being the start of it!

Anyhew- the question! I think the people we knew actually sold the house to somebody else who has now rented it to 'the dingles'. Any ideas how I can find the landlord without asking potty mouth?

Can't help at all, I'm afraid but I just wanted to say well done for keeping your cool.

Sometimes it is the best option. There is often not much to be gained by engaging in a name calling fight with someone who might enjoy it

Sorry about your greenhouse, hopefully it didn't cause too much damage to your "babies"

you may want to spend a few minutes phoning round some letting agents in your area
try your local paper which lists houses for sale, they are normally in there, ask them if the have house number ? in street ? on their books as you'd like to contact the landlord
most people nowadays go through letting agents as easier to dump a tenat when things go bad rather than doing it themselves

I'd try getting in touch with the previous owner first and see if they have any way of contacting the new owner...you could be on the phone all day calling up letting agents(if there's as many as there are in Ipswich anyway)...although that's a good plan if all else fails.
Well done for keeping your cool...I'd have probably either lost it and failed miserably in a slanging match(I don't do to well in arguments )...or just hidden inside in tears not to venture in my garden ever again.
Hope you somehow manage to get things sorted so you can get back to enjoying your outdoor space without waiting for the next incident.xxx

Best of luck. I've started the Easter weekend by reversing into my neighbour's car with my Landrover! They were lovely about it.

Should've gone to Specs@vers, Polly. No harm done, I hope!? We've all been there...

Definitely the land Registry, they can sell you all sorts of information including the owners name and address just to start. More money gets more information. I hate it when women pull the 'single mother' carp out of the bag. There are stacks of us single mothers who'd never let our kids behave like that. lazy parenting at it's worse
Hope it's start and end of it

It's not my eyes, it's my lack of height!! (and the fact that she was parked too far over our driveway) But they are lovely folk and good neighbours so I'll pay up with a smile.

Definitely a case of keeping one's cool being the best move. Remember the rule, never start a slanging match with a foul-mouthed moron, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience! (OK so that is my enhanced version....)
