  • Good News / Bad News

Well it definately seems every cloud has a silver lining and every silver lining its cloud.

It's my step-dad's 65th this year, and to celebrate he's taking the whole family to southern spain. However, just to throw a spanner in the works, I've been diagnosed with a condition that requires me to go to hospital 3 times a week.

So we've been trying to sort out getting my treatment over there and at last we've sorted it, so I can at least go. (That's the good news)

Bad news is: The hospital is an hour and a half away, the sessions are at 8:00 in the morning (all 6 of them!) and to put the icing on the cake, I have to pay cash for the sessions because it's a private hospital (although we can claim these back), but it's going to cost somewhere in the region of £1,500 for all 6 sessions!

Still, I think the good news outweighs the bad. And I'll get to compare the Spanish health system to the British one (while everyone else is comparing the quizine!)

Anyone else had any "Good News / Bad News" lately?

So sorry to hear your news. As you say, at least you can have your treatment whilst you are over there. Good luck and best wishes.

Sis had bad news re her fertility but her good news is that the stem cell transplant she needs is the 'easy' one which doesn't require a donor and can use her own cells

Hmmm what a nightmare, but like you say, at least you get to go to Spain, and while some of your time will be taken up with the hospital, not all of it will so hopefully you'll get a taste of the cuisine to.

If no one speaks good Spanish in you family, ask for a translator to be around when you have your treatment just in case you need to ask questions or they do something thats different. I lived in the Valencian region for a year, were they speak Valenciano so learning normal Spanish was a waste of time. I was totally baffled for most of the year! LOL Normal state of affairs some might say LOL)

No major silver line / clouds for me this week so I'm quite pleased. I prefer a hazey blue sky me The daughter threw our car doofer remote thing in her paddling pool last week. Good news is arrived a day earlier than expected, ban news, 200 fat smackers to get the blooming thing.

Sounds like you will need to search for a good car hire to get you to the treatments. As its early you can relax when its over and enjoy the family shannanigans.

Have a good holiday and best wishes with your health !

I've got some 'good news/bad news', but I'm not allowed to talk about it yet!
The 'bad news' bit is... we can't afford it!

Good news re you taking a hols and getting your treatment paid for (eventually). Hope all goes well.

Good news for me, less than 2 weeks and home for a well deserved 5 week break. Bad news, my boss in Islamabad has just changed over (we all work rotation shifts) and the other one has come in. He is a complete (space intentionally blank). I cant (ditto) stand him. I would rather have 10 weeks in work with the other boss than 1 week with this (ditto) one. Even worserer news, he's (ditto) coming down here for an unspecified (ditto) time.
