Default Good Day

Not sure if this is the right place to post this but I have to tell someone. Today I've not just had a good day on the lottie I've had a great day. For the first time in what seems like weeks the weather, here in Edingley, has been dry and reasonably warm. At last I've been able to spend a whole day on the plot getting some serious bed digging work done.

I appreciate that some folk might think a day spent weilding the spade and fork is hell but today I was in heaven. Tomorrow will be hell when the stiff aching back kicks in but for now I'm as happy as Larry. (Whoever Larry is).

Me too! I had a good 4 hours on the lottie, in the sunshine. (stiff easterly wind though). My 'tame' blackbird was helping me turn over the soil. I managed to sow scozonera, limnanthes, radish, leek and california poppies. Lovely

I got tall climbing peas and sugar pods in yesterday - and potted up lots of flowery things too. Lovely to work in the sun!
I got a packet of california poppies free with a recent order Two Sheds. I'm intending to use them in the spaces created by growing beans on wigwams. Lots of little corner bits free! I love them because our daughter used to grow them as a child. Really trouble free and so cheerful. (The flowers AND her!)

It was a lovely morning, warm and sunny: 11 degrees at 9am already. I sowed sweetcorn and squash in the greenhouse; planted out more Broadies, carrots and Feltham First peas in the rain which lashed down at 3pm

It was a mixture of sun and heavy showers but I managed to get a lot done outside when the sun shone, and a lot done in the greenhouse when it pee'd down!

So all in all it was a GOOD DAY!

I got back to the plot after a 5 week absence and it was lovely even though I only had less than an hour. It was as lovely spring evening, there were lots of folks there (very unusual) and not only did I get satisfaction seeing the plot wasn't totally gone to the dogs, but I got to get my hands dirty planting spuds and then harvest some PSB, cabbage and lettuce thinnings (for todays lunch, but already half eaten on the desk!!).
