    The Good

Postie brought me a big envelope this afternoon, very intriguing, I wasn't expecting anything apart from the usual junk & bills... On opening I discovered a brill 'Country Kitchen' mag, a little bar of Green & Blacks, and a note from our own lovely Hazel at the Hill
Thanks Haze Big hugs sweetie, that was so thoughtful, it's got some great recipes in and didn't make me frustrated about not being in the garden which GYO does at the mo

    The Bad

Yet another of my friends has decided that they don't want to be on the Vine 'for a while' At a time when she is waiting for results from MRI scans & other tests, and has a nasty interview/appeal to attend, both of which may have frightening results, she really needs the support of her friends. She has unselfishly given much to others (including me) over the past year, and has very rarely moaned about her circumstances, always trying to present a cheerful face (even when some very unnecessary jibes have been directed her way on here.)

    The Ugly

Witch-hunts haven't happened in this country since the 1700s, but it seems to me that's what happened here while I was in hospital, and again this morning.
    There are a couple of proverbs that people should keep in mind before attacking someone else;

Let he who is without sin cast the first stone.

People who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.

If you've got nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion, but if you can't say something nicely, then go away until you can! Plenty of posts wind me up, the ones about people digging upset me, but that's because of my circumstances and I don't expect people to not talk about or do it!! Ditto the ones where people talk about spending lots of money on stuff when we're stoney broke, but I'm not about to start ranting about them being insensitive because they aren't the cause of me being broke are they??!!

Please play nice folks, or nobody is going to dare post anything but new game threads for fear of offending someone....and several more people will end up 'taking a sabbatical' from the Vine.

        Nicely said.

All too often threads are started and go WAY off at a tangent.

This is supposed to be not

Well...It's the feel good factor that the Vine tends to spread ....and is now ( I hope) famous for....BUT...

There are always differences of opinions (I for one have missed todays!!???)

Many posters - as well as responders need to think twice before posting.

Goodness knows what portrait I paint of me - in writing.......but - who is to know the real me??????.

          Applies to you all folks!

Now that our membership has thousionered ( is there a word for 1000x????) since I joined...we all need to think again that most peeps are right in their opinion....and our views are not always acepted!

Come on peeps...this forum is popular because of it's tolerance....remember that!!

          xx

Here here too - I enjoy logging onto this site for the big comfy planket feeling, I left school before they had computers but trust this site. Please tell 'your friend' we miss her (I think I know who you mean but may be wrong).

Missed summat again, obviously. I do get horrible shivery feelings when people aren't respectful of each other. You don't have to agree with everyone but you should be respectful in my opinion. Hope it all settles down soon.

Awwww, bless you Jacob Marley, you are a lovely man

The good news there is that my OH is feeling guilty about my latest fall (altho I've told him it wasn't his fault) because I was trying to get to the greenhouse when it happened, to do something he'd promised to about 5 times Sooo.... he has borrowed a rotavator, and has already planted all my onion sets
I know I'll get there in the end - I'm really no worse off than I was last week, it's just going to take a bit longer to get right

Flum is right, a little respect goes a long way. I might not like your opinion but that doesnt mean your not entitled to it.

a view from the other side maybe?

I am finding that I have to 'think' more and more before I post, which does take a little of the fun out of it for me - but I guess that says more about me that the forum - example:
                          - will I offend someone
                          - will I offend many
                          - will someone report me (I would rather they came to me)
                          - will people think me crass
                          - will people think me fickle
                          - can I joke about SD's job (as he does)
                          - will ......oh SD has just called that he has opened a bottle of red

Oh, you rotter Piskie - you KNOW I'm giving it up for Lent. And Lent is an amazingly long time! If I could be mithered I'd take the huff!

                            But I can't , so I won't!

I suspect I know who your friend is and I hope she gets her results asap. She certainly does cheer up the Vine. I noticed there were no posts from her. Thankfully I have missed the issues you have raised and I hope I keep on missing any future problems caused by crass posting. Hopefully you will be on the mend Sarzwix and get some gardening done this year.
