Getting A tad too old for fests I went to the I.O.W. in 1970 & the Hyde park free gigs in 1969/70.
I don't fancy camping out in a muddy field I like my home comforts too much.
Saw Hawkwind playing on the back of a lorry in Ladbrooke Grove in 1969 or 70?

Go every year although it is a dammed sight more expensive than when I first started going about 15 years ago. Also is now ridiculous to get tickets, first year I went I only got mine a couple of weeks before but the last couple of times it's sold out in less than an hour and you have to plan with military precision with your friends. We couldn't get on last year on our t'internet connection but fortunately one of our friends could so was OK. Has changed over the years, used to be a group of us all in our early 20s whereas now it's a big family outing with loads of kids, loads for them to do and it's a surprisingly good vibe in the family field.

The organisers reckon this may be the last-ever Glasto (to drum up interest?)

I don't like big crowds, but my flatmates always went to the Big Chill instead (bit more comfy than Glastonbury )

One of the great things about Glasto is that you can be in the middle of a huge crowd one minute and then a short walk later be pretty much on your own. Re the last ever bit, apparently Emily Eavis said that a couple of weeks ago but her dad said the next day that it wasn't and would be ongoing.

The last time I went Hawkwind were the main band! It must have been in the 70's.
Now I perfere to watch it on the net/TV. To many people there now, its to big and has lost its appeal.

I would love to go to Glasto, the OH used to go as a kid with his Ma & Pa and would love to go back too. But for us it's just too expensive to contemplate - the 5 of us could have a weeks holiday for the price of the tickets!

The Latitude Festival is well worth a look for those who think Galstonbury is too big and expensive. They tend to have smaller, up-and-coming bands, which in my experience often makes for a better show...

when i was younger i could hear it going on from my bedroom window, never thought any thing that big about it. then i moved out and all my new friends were talking about going to glastonbury festival and they though i was stupid coz i'd never heard of it the fact that its called pilton pop festival coz its held in pilton nr glastonbury. it wasn't the sort of thing my mum & dad would watch on tv either i lead such a sheltered life back then . But i've never been i'll just go visit mum & dad and sit in my old bedroom .

I have been invited to Glastonbury by friends a couple of times, but personally, it has no fascination to me what so ever.

I cannot imagine anything worse!!

I prefer to go to Glastobury it's self, it's a lovely place. We usually have a race to see who can get to the top of the tor first. Love the chalace well gardens and all the shops.
