    Forgot to Vote !

    For the first time in my life, I didn't vote

    I remember getting a postal vote, but goodness knows what I did with it. Probably washed it in the machine.

    Asking around, nobody I know has bothered to vote. Most of them have never bothered to vote.

    What about you?

    Don't think we had any elections round our way, if we did the candidates did a rubbish jobs of canvassing.

      We was a election free zone we voted last year not so much junk mail which is a pitty because i save it all and send it to them folk's that keep sending me prepaid envelope's jacob

        We had candidates from the 3 main parties, they all left their blurb which I duly read, but to be honest they all sounded the same!
        They all furfilled my criteria - live locally, green issues, education etc so I actually didn't mind which won!
        The only thing that made them different was one was printed on yellow paper which was nice! .... think he won too!

          No elections in this area, But shame on everyone for not voting !!!
          On tvam today Harriet Harman admited that they need to listen to voters this goes without saying to all parties. Looks like people have voted with their feet. I dont normally coment on politics but I think with local elections it is important to vote and it depends who I vote for on local issues.
          All MP's are the same anyway self self self.
          Brown only got to be prime minister by default.

            I forgot to vote as well & I've no excuse really, the polling station is at the end of our street! I was dithering who to vote for, one guy looked like a thug, one looked like a drip, the lib. dem . one seemed to be invisible if there was one & the encumbent guy is trying to impose a congestion charge in the area without seemingly improving the public transport & at the expense of the other local amenities so I was stuck & by the time I remembered the polls had shut!

              I forgot to vote. Please don't tell my mum, she'll get most distressed, chain me to a king and force feed me a horse........or something.

                I voted. Our candidates from the three parties left their blurb but like Vicky said they were all prettie much the same so there was little to make my mind up about. I ended up voting for the guy with the same surname as me. It sounds like a bit of a farse but there was absolutely nothing to distiguish the two candidates.
                Do not meddle in the affairs of dragons for you are crunchy and good with ketchup!

                  There were no elections in my area, so I didn't have anything to vote for Although at the moment the majority here are Independents, so wouldn't have much impact on the government.

                    No elections here either!

                    Last time we had local elections, we didn't get a single leaflet, phone call, knock on the door etc.

                    We only knew there were going to be elections because of the voting card. The first time we knew anything about any of the candidates was when we went into the village for our shopping, and there were posters up.

                    Mind you, they were all much of a muchness. At the time there was a huge local issue, and they were all pledging to back it and get it sorted.

                    We voted for the current incumbent, who is a nice enough chap - have seen him walking his dog around, and he is very easy to get hold of if you reallt need to.

                          If people either don't vote or don't take the time to find out what the person they are voting for stands for then they have no right to moan that things aren't how they want to - they might not do what you want but at least you've made the effort to try and be involved.

                          Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

                          Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

                            Im with Alison, I voted but the choices wernt brilliant, the 3 biggies, one is obsessed with tarmacing all the green space the other two are are identical and rubbish, the green party, have no idea who he was or what he stands for as he didnt drop any blurb off or have a web page or anything! one indipendant just like the big 3 and one independant who promised to have surgerys in the area, I voted for her so at least I could go somwhere with my concerns.

                              I always vote, as a point of principle. Partly because, as mentioned above, if you don't, you really can't moan when someone you don't agree with is elected but also because of the fact that a lot of women fought bladdy hard for me to have the right to! That said, our candidates this time were a right shower
