  • Feeling so sad.

My dear mother passed away in the early hours of Friday morning. She had dementia and was in a nursing home for the past 7 years. While i am devistated by the loss of my mother despite the fact she was 97 i now find myself grieving for the great friends i made with the nursing staff over those past 7 years. It feels like a double loss. Feeling very fragile.

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

Oh Bramble, I'm so sorry to hear your very sad news Try and keep in touch with the nursing staff if you can, they will be able to help make the transition a bit more gentle. Sending biggest hugs and strength to you at this sad time.

Sorry to hear your sad news Bramble.

Losing a family member is devastating, even when it is expected, and no words ease the pain, only time can do that.

Thank you to everyone for your kind words. It doesnt help that the weather has been wet and miserable for most of the day. I have been so taken up with go8ng back and forward to the nursing home i never stopped to think what it would be like when it all endedl.
think i need to sit down and reaccess.

I was just wondering if you could go and visit some of the other residents who you have befriended.

That way you get to keep in touch with the nursing staff ( who , I'm sure must already be missing you too)- and at the same time giving pleasure to other people who might otherwise be lonely?

Oh Bramble its sound like you are floating around from pillar to post while you try and regain some sort of routine - I am sorry for the loss of both your Mom and the staff who helped keep you grounded over the last 7 years.

I hope that very soon a sound, smell or taste prompts a memory where all the people you care about were happy and you can smile at the reflection.
