  • Favourite Farm Shop

We have lots of fabulous farm shops here in Lancashire, but what about the rest of the country?

Whilst Im digging out the details of my local ones, what about near you? Fancy posting the details so we can spread the word?

Right, here's my favourite three round Preston, Lancashire:

North West Fine Food producer of the year 2003 - Fairfield Farm, Lancashire - excellent meat of all kinds, including mutton and a lovely farm shop and cafe

Spout House Farm Shop - Home - top rate lamb and pork, a super, local farm shop

last but not least, where I try to visit every week: Head O'th Marsh farm shop, sandy lane, brindle, chorley , lancashire 01254 852317

I hope you are able to visit these farm shops, and I would love to hear about your local farm shops..............spread the word!

Not a farm shop, but a farmers' market in the car-park at Wentworth Garden Centre once a month. Love it.
Into each life some rain must fall........but this is getting ridiculous.

Local farmers market, comes to Skipton once a month Northern Dales Farmers Markets, but goes round a lot of the North too.

Also Keelham Hall Farm Shop, Thornton, outside Bradford is great for meat and veg. Keelham Hall Farm Shop

But really, I live in a great place for meat, there's a few local farmers who sell direct, the butchers in Skipton are all quality meat from local farms, and the local auction mart sell meat these days too (although I only found that out the other day, so I haven't tried it yet)

Oooh, there's a little farm shop near Otley in Suffolk, that I used to pass when working in the area. They sell mainly meat, but never had a bad bit! Sorry, can't remember what it's called.

Jimmy's Farm is also good for a visit if you're ever in the Ipswich area.

Round here, we have two really good Farmers' Markets, one at Marks Hall, Coggeshall, the other at Great Garnets Farm about ten minutes outside Great Dunmow. Lack of funds, means I don't go now.

Limited amount of farm shops here - don't get much chance to visit them though as they are only open during office hours it seems.

There is a website that lists local suppliers Big Barn I think, I'm sure you can add to the listing - or submit to the administrators.

Last Saturday of the month. Bakewell Farmers' Market, followed by Chatsworth Farm Shop.

Absolutely wonderful. Worth the 60+ mile round trip.

I'm near Banbury in N Oxon, and I love

                          THE MEAT JOINT - Home
Their own GOS pork and lamb from the next village. They use the manure to fertilise the fields that grow the pigs food. Very helpful butchery.

Wykham Park Farm Shop a traditional, mixed family farm with Aberdeen Angus
Their own beef and lovely asparagus and local everything else (fruit, veg, eggs, dairy, meat etc.)

                          Wyatts Farm Shop
This is a garden centre, cafe and farm shop. Perfect! They sell their own organic milk (and the most delicious icecream made from it), and other food. We go for the icecream...

                          plus

Deddington OnLine - Deddington Farmers' Market
This has been a finalist in best FM competitions and has some great stalls. If you don't get there early you have to queue round the market for the bread! The 1st 2 farm shops have a stall there.

We also have a little village market in Barford st Michael, 3rd Saturday of the month if anyone's passing!

And I also like Rectory Farm - Pick Your Own and Farm Shop - Stanton St. John - Oxfordshire - Daily Crop Info - 01865 351677 A really well organised PYO near Oxford that we like visiting in the summer. Pick some fruit, children play on the Bouncy Castle etc and then have a strawberry milkshake with fresh strawberries

Hi HeyWayne, you have a monthly farmers' market in Woburn once a month on a Sunday. I only know this as my daughter lives in Tod and I've been to it with her.

We have a fortnightly farmer's market in Haverfordwest on a Friday and a smaller one in Pembroke on the Saturdays in between.
