  • Favourite Christmas Song????

I was going to put carol, but wanted to be open minded....

So whats your favourite Christmas song, the one that reminds you of opening presents, warm fires and mince pies? (or other equally important warm cosy feeling inside)

Please name the song and the memory (if you want to).

    I'll start the ball rolling:

I love Santa Claus is Comin To Town sung by Bruce Springsteen.

YouTube - Bruce Springsteen Santa Claus Is Coming To Town - London

The reason? Well I have always been a fan and I was given a copy of this particular song one christmas when everything in my life had gone pear shaped - (end of marriage, serious problems with my eldest daughter's health, living in a damp one bed hovel on my own, probably about to loose my job, etc) and this song made me smile.

When I was little I used to love 'White Christmas' but now I prefer something more 'anti-Christmas' like the Pogues Fairytale of New York!

I love them all and sing along much to daughters horror.
Dont remember the ones that I would have sung with my dad before he died way back in 1961 just after Christmas and a month after my 6th birthday.

Lots of memories along the way.

Easy, Fairy Tale of New York

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

              Blue Christmas - Elvis Presley

It reminds me of when I used to work on Reception at a nearby hotel. It's always the first and most played Christmas song in my collection.

The river Trent is lovely, I know because I have walked on it for 18 years.

Definitely Fairy Tale of New York.

Or Coventry Carol if I'm feeling traditional.
