  • Fantastic news I've just got to share

I've just had a phone call from my youngest daughter (she's 36 and mum of 2 teenagers and a 9 year old, all girls!!). She's just finishing her second year as a Student Midwife and she's been shortlisted for the National STUDENT MIDWIFE OF THE YEAR AWARD!!!! How proud am I . She's worked so hard for this qualification, it's what she's wanted to do since before she had her last baby 9 years ago but she waited until they were all settled at school and were old enough to understand why mum would sometimes not be there when they got home from school, but dad or nan and grandad would be.

I'm bubbling over with pride at my little girl Even if she doesn't get the final award, it doesn't matter, it's the recognition of what she's done to get this far that's the exciting thing right now. We'll know on October 9th when the awards ceremony takes place. I'll be a bag of nerves that evening!! I've even offered to buy her a "posh frock" for the occasion
My girls found their way into my heart and now they nest there

What an achievement! Well done to your daughter and to you for supporting her and your grandchildren. Enjoy the big night and the shopping for the posh frock!

            Congratulations!

I admire anyone who can look after people - they all deserve a medal, so she must be especially good. Tell her very well done!

Did you know that the direct translation of the french for midwife is 'wise woman'.
                      Good for her.

Thank you all ever so much, I'm still walking on Cloud 9 and wanting to tell everyone I meet!! We'll be on tenterhooks now till 9th October when we hear the final result. Whatever it is, she'll always be the best midwife in the world in my eyes. Can't say she's the best daughter ever, 'cause I've got 2 of them They're both the best daughters. Daughter number 1 took her Fork Lift Truck test yesterday How different is that

An update Yesterday was the "Final" of the Student Midwife of the Year Awards. My Becci came 2nd. That's in the whole of the UK! I'm soooooooooooooooo proud of her and thrilled to bits. Of course I'm a bit envious of the winner's mum, but all I can say to her is "You really must have an absolutely fantastically patient, caring, understanding and competant daughter. Well done on your daughter's success"
