I've just had a phone call from my youngest daughter (she's 36 and mum of 2 teenagers and a 9 year old, all girls!!). She's just finishing her second year as a Student Midwife and she's been shortlisted for the National STUDENT MIDWIFE OF THE YEAR AWARD!!!! How proud am I 
. She's worked so hard for this qualification, it's what she's wanted to do since before she had her last baby 9 years ago but she waited until they were all settled at school and were old enough to understand why mum would sometimes not be there when they got home from school, but dad or nan and grandad would be.
I'm bubbling over with pride at my little girl
Even if she doesn't get the final award, it doesn't matter, it's the recognition of what she's done to get this far that's the exciting thing right now. We'll know on October 9th when the awards ceremony takes place. I'll be a bag of nerves that evening!! I've even offered to buy her a "posh frock" for the occasion
