I have no beef with those who do as they see fit. How ever as X-military I do wonder some times. Any way.

THE FINAL INSPECTION

The soldier stood and faced God,

After all, a union is about togetherness and democracy

but a union is a democracy that doesn't include most of the people affected by the strike, so please spare a thought for them as well.

By the forefather's standards everybody now has a decent standard of living, thankfully

SWMBO is a unison member to but she will not go on strike ever.

She works at a home for elderly people with dementia and says they always but always must come first.

Which is why nurses and care assistants can be screwed over without much fear of repercussions. She can still take part in the industrial action if she can get the day off or if she does like the RCN are suggesting nurses should do and only strike on their breaks

This is overtly political and unnecessary. We all have political views and I don't think that this is the right place for them.

I understand there is another point of view which if aired by me or anybody else might cause a right argument.

Interestingly I heard one of the local headmasters said if 80% of staff were out on strike, then 80% of kids would be kept at home, the other 20% of staff would be supervising revision sessions for the students that are in. My OH has just told me the headteacher's union has voted to strike, so I wonder what his position will be.
Personally, I will go with the majority decision when the result for my union comes in. We had a teacher's training day the last time, so when the NUT members took action there were just fewer training courses running.

I will be off work on 30th of November (national strike day?) as I am a fully paid up member of Unison. I must add that I actually abstained from voting for strike for personal reasons, but will happily support this strike decision
After all, a union is about togetherness and democracy and I will not be labeled a 'scab'.

The way I see it, is that people only strike as a last resort. And if they are willing to lose pay - then it's important enough to strike for.

Those who don't strike are welcome not to strike; but respect that many many good things have been achieved by those that have striked in the past. For example: Made in Dagenham - where striking female workers pretty much wrote sex discrimination law in the UK.

Otherwise, the employers/government have all the power and the workers have none. And we are all workers aren't we?

Each Person must stand by their own concience and not be bullied either way. I have always been taught to respect the views of others but that has never meant compromising my own beliefs.
