  • Electric Peeler - Pros & Cons

Pretty soon I'm gonna have a boat load of Apples that are going to need some kind of preservation. I was toying around buying an electric peeler then slice & freeze them...........my main concern is would the Apples go brown before the peeling process has finished. Your advice would be appreciated...............This takes my fancy:

Could you bribe someone to do the slicing as they come off the peeler? Or have them drop into water & lemon juice?

That was my plan HH but the electric peeler's I have seen are a lot slower. I like the drill attachment as it will speed the process up.............Plus I can adjust the speed of the drill.

If you buy a bottle of sprite, empty into a bowl and drop each peeled apple into that you won't get browning.

And didn't he say that the apple is spiralld like a slinky? So not a whole lot of slicing required then!

I think the peel is spiralized, not the apple.

After further research..................it has 3 blades. A Peeler, a Corer & a Spiralizer. So in effect you can use a combination of the blades depending on what effect you want & what you are peeling cos obviously you wouldn't want to core a Potato...............would you?..........

The he!...I love the idea of using a drill!

I'd say lemon water is the way to go.
Those hand powered machines are used a lot here - we're an apple growing region - can't imagine the French wasting money on some rubbish device

Ooooh I like that! Despite the fact I have no apple tree (other than my new patio job from TM which is still only twig size), I want one anyway.

Putting salt in water stops apples turning brown............and its cheaper than lemons!

They've always fascinated me I could watch it peeling apples all day thinking about it we've got two trees so I really ought to buy one.

I borrowed a peeler similar to that one but my apples were too big for it , so I just use the drill with a bit to grip the apple and didn't buy anything, I kind of rest the apple on a chopping board and hold a peeler against the apple , takes a while but you soon get used to it

I checked out your previous thread Kier but couldn't risk handling a drill in one hand and a peeler in the other...................
