Ebay Help please!

It's been years since I set up PayPal - but if memory serves, you have to give it the bank details of where they can take/sent payments as and when.

It (PP) then takes a fee of �1 from your account, which will show up on your bank statement with a 'code' - you have to then enter the code into your PP account to show you are 'genuine'.

Pretty sure that's still the same

I thought that but it says money not sent in step 1 of paypal, really confusing me!

Yeah as Piskie says, although it is a few years since I've done it. Paypal is a lot easier then sending cheques as I discovered

You have to think of paypal as a holding stage. If you receive a payment from something you sell on ebay it will go into paypal and the next time you buy on ebay the money will come from either just paypal, or paypal and the remainder from your bank account.

You can move money from paypal into your bank account, takes anywhere up to 7 days though (mines been much quicker though) and paypal take a percentage from the money when it moves it across into your bank account.

So to do these things you need to add an active bank account to your paypal account, verify it by the code that will appear on your next bank statement if you want to. I haven't bothered with mine as it's about how much spending limit you're allowed and I don't want very much on my account.

Above all, if you get ANY emails from paypal NEVER NEVER NEVER open the site from the link in the email. ALWAYS type the paypal address into your navigation bar at the top of your web page. This is actually advice from paypal - scammers will send very convincing emails with links to FAKE paypal pages. Paypal never send emails with links, so always think it's a scam and to be safe always open paypal using the typed address not a link.

I love eBay, and PayPal, but then I hate shopping, and writing Cheques. Outside of eBay, I will often choose to buy from a particular seller purely because they take PayPal!

Thanks for all your replies. Does anyone know how long it takes for Paypal to deposit a small amount in your bank account in order to verify?

I did it back in 2003, I think. It took less than about five minutes.

Hum, I think I remember it being almost instant - or no more than a couple of days.

If it hasn't happened you will need to check through what you have done I guess - shout up if you need help

Like many it's a while since I set up up (ye gods it's bin over 6 years) but it did it the same day as I recall.

There was a thing on the TV about that saying that you're not covered by the guarantee thing that you get with your credit cards if you use it on sites other than ebay so if you want the extra insurance then you're safer to use your credit card direct - apparently it's OK for ebay purchases as ebay and paypal are the same company or something like that.

The thing I like about paying with paypal (on non-ebay) is that I don't have to put in my card details......
