i went bowling with some friends last saturday night, on the walk home at 12:15am ish we heard birds chirping......... we were thinking we had ventured into some time warp and walked out the other side 5 hours later!! lol

The area we were walking through had a lot of artificial light so maybe that was the reason?

A couple of weeks ago I was up and around at 4am (pitch black apart from yellow street lamps) and the birds were in full song.

I usually wake around 6, and I love the birdsong, it's so cheerful.

When the birds start singing in the mornings it sets my dogs off, who both start howling in the kitchen. After about 5 minutes of howling they shut up for about half an hour then they start again.
I am slightly deaf in my right ear and have titanus in it. I can`t hear some sounds and luckly one of them is the birds tweeting so I just turn onto my left side and I can`t hear them anymore....Shame I can still hear the dog`s though..lol

3am this morning Basil woke me, went out to bird song (and some prat walking up and down on his mobile to some woman) but the Crow beat them all at about 1am.

Our birds are always early here and frequently wake the cats....

I found it very strange that I can here the birds here even in the middle of the night when it's still pitch black.

Blackbirds live up to their name, black in colour and sing when it's dark too.
