Dyeing clothes??

Lots of salt [use the right measure for the weight of the dry clothes], and a good hot empty wash afterwards.

I've dyed loads of stuff in the machine and never had any problems with the dye staining the next wash; but would do an empty hot wash inbetween just to make sure.

I too was apprehensive, but my sister told me it was fine if you just follow the destructions - done it loads of times since - simples!

yes, it really works ... no dye left in the machine afterwards (even though it may stain the rubber seal a bit)

ps. don't ever be tempted to throw in too much ... or you'll end up with a really bad, patchy dye job. Just do the jeans on their own

you may need to deal with the marks first - sometimes these still show after the dye depending on how different they are from the background colour and what caused them.

oh, and when they're done ... don't expect them to be colourfast. Wash them with other denims for a few washes afterwards.

I separate jeans all the time, at least now I do anyway. Have had to use colour run remover after a mixed wash many a time!!

Check the weights! Last time I wanted to dye something I needed several packets of dye....

Well, it worked, my machine is clean but I did the wrong pair!!! He muttered something about blondes..........(I'm a redhead, but do have 'moments')

Try to do the right ones next time

Thought I was the only one to make that sort of mistake, Kirsty.

I dyed a new, white dressing gown violet; put the salt in, put the dye carefully on top, Put in the wet dressing gown and switched on. It was on the wrong programme.

I now have a lovely warm but very patchy dressing gown.

As usual, havent read last replies but use according to instructions then I put my m/c onto two cylces of the hottest wash poss. Nowt gets through that. Have done it a few times. Last was last year with 3 full loads of towels I decided to change from green to brown. It worked a treat! Would defo do it again.
