  • Do I take it as a compliment?

Just talking to our technical director, and he said (making reference to talking to me) that it's like talking to Harry Werth (sp?).

He (our technical director) was starting a conversation that he left hanging, so I was filling in the blanks, to which he was replying "no, oh", I'd then offer another alternative, and he'd re-utter "no, um" an so on.

My alternatives may not have been suitable, but had our MD in waiting laughing - especially when the Harry W(i/u/e/o)rth comment was made.

    Sun's shining, it's a lovely day.

I thought that was Eric Morcambe.

I wasn't doing that when talking to our technical director...

Lol. Dunno whether it's a compliment or not Wayne but given the context I would suspect it is.
Personally I hate it when people try and second guess what I'm about to say, it's like talking on the phone with an inaccurate echo. My MIL does it all the time.

He was taking an age to get to the point (he does that).

Also, in my defence he did say things like "oh, whatsit called...?" and "oh, you know..."

              Nice one Wayne

I hate it when people don't finish sentences. To me it means their thoughts are elsewhere, so they aren't concentrating on what they're saying - it's so easy to just fill in the blanks for them!

I have no problem when there are actual gaps to fill lol. It's when there aren't any it's annoying.

When my other half has his glasses on & tries a tribly hat on I always say 'get it off you look like Harry Worth!' I remember watching him when I was little & remember the 'shop window' trick but can't remember him finishing other people's sentences though. Can't remember much about his shows & it's funny because we were talking about him recently & O.H tried to find out why his shows have never been repeated on TV & apparently it's like a lot of others in that most of the recordings have been lost over time.
