That is really horrid, why join a forum to upset others, I love this forum for the friendship and advice, that is why I am here, I can offer friendship to fellow grapes already, and hope one day to be able to offer advice
(((hugs)))

Iv'e just looked on the members list and squashytomato has posted twice, also appears to be a new poster.

I think it may have been intended as tongue in cheek..??, perhaps you should PM them back and ask them to explain themselves.

Incidentally according to the members list there are several assorted 'squashes'

i searched for a post from ST, but couldnt find one! my post here was very tongue in check, but i thought, you have posted twice and what a wierd thing to PM someone, i did reply with "i dont know what you mean lol"!

i am all for meeting new people and having a giggle, but on the first meeting being called a "saddo" is quite shocking! mind you he/she is right i am one lol lol !!

SS

ps. with that sense of humour, i thought coming on the GC part of this forum would be good!

Anyone who stays up untill the early hours posting on a garden forum has GOT to be a SADDO, you wouldn't catch ME doing it...erm

SADDERER One thing about forums, they broaden my knowledge of language useage.

Personally, I think PM'ing someone like that is a bit out of order, joke or not. If you can't say what you want to someone in public then don't say it.

Hmmm... I don't know. I'm not sure the Squashy person meant to be offensive. That "you're sadder than me" thing could easily be meant in a nice, friendly way, but yep, might get misunderstood. The Squashy one was also calling him/herself sad! Things really do get lost in translation sometimes and I think I'd give this one the benefit of the doubt.

Anyway, I'm extremely sad in myriad ways but perfectly happy about it!!! Maybe someone should start a Why I'm Sadderer Than You thread. Squash could join in if they haven't been scared off!

That's the trouble, it's hard to have a joke with someone when you're not face to face with them. Everyone has a different sense of humour and one persons percieved funny quip can be taken as an insult by another.

The other alternative is that we all speak Queens English and don't try to have a bit of a laugh...........but that would make the forum a very boring place indeed.

Personally I think we have a good balance of 'viners' on here......thats why I keep coming back!

well hello everyone, just discovered this thread and it would appear ive put the cat amongst the pigeons or the pigoens amongst the brasicas. i did think it was strange that when i posted someone replied as if i were a long lost friend, i thought they were being friendly but it would appear a discussion has taken place about me calling su sad! i mustsay im pretty chuffed as this puts me up there with "what to put in after the potatos" and how to get rid of flea beatle.
as for the sad pun i apologise to any of you that found it offensive but lets face it we are a generation who sleep, drink and eat(obviously) fruit and veg and whilst we enjoy what we do the majority of our friends think we're sad.
an example of this behaviour is i am a young(ish) free(sort of) single(that bits right) lady who spent saturday night on the allotment until 9.40pm. Now again sorry to offend some of you but most people call that sad!!!
roll on winter when i can go out partying and consuming large amounts of alcohol without feeling guilty.
anyway now ive been outed i hope to join in some less controversial debates
love
squashysu's friend squashytom x
