  • Craft & Plant Stalls Needed

    Hi,

It's a long shot I know but I don't suppose anyone out there would be interested in having a Craft or Plant stall at my daughters Summer Garden Party would you? We need licensed Mobile hot food sellers & an ice cream van too.
The school is Sacred Heart Catholic Primary School on Bray's Lane in Coventry & they're a registered charity. The date will be Sunday the 6th of July & it's from 12 until 3pm. There's a lot on in Coventry that weekend & we're struggling a bit in getting people to come & sell stuff.
The school is charging £10 per stall but any money taken is then yours. They used to charge a fee & ask for a sales percentage too, which I thought was a bit cheeky myself!
Anyway, if you are interested please PM me & we'll take it from there.

    Thanks,
    Tracey

Have you got a local Freecycle Cafe? We put adverts for stalls on ours and get loads of replies - more than we can handle usually! It's also a good idea to offer preferential rates to parents of the school - I should imagine you have someone who does Usbourne Books or Phoenix Cards amongst the parents. Another thing we have tried is head massage from the local college course - they often appreciate the chance to practice and make a bit of cash too!

      Hope it all goes well

Sorry, I should have said - can you do the ice cream yourselves? Then the school gets the profit...we put a freezer on the playground and this year sold the kind of ice cream that you get in supermarket multipacks - made a small fortune! Lidl was great on price. Plus we do our own BBQ - burgers are supplied at cost price by one of our parents who runs a burger joint and we always sell out. Plants are supplied by a parent with a gardening business - she also does our Mother's Day flowers and Christmas plant sale.

If you're members of the NCPTA, check out their website for some great ideas and supplier details - the local co-ordinator person should be able to help too.

Can you guess that I'm chair of our Friends Association? PM me if you'd like any further info or I can help with anything else!

I have cooked many a burger at the school summer fete, we also sold ice cream and teas and coffee's, a parent and her mum used to run a cake stall making all the cakes themselves. Sweets were bought from cash and carry and a shop was set up in a classroom. Plants supplied by a dad who worked for large seed company.
Year six children made up games vetted by the head and the kids ran them with adult supervision.
Have you got any parents who are good at face painting, buy reliable paints though.
Ask for good quality books for a book stall, fill jam jars with whatever parents come up with and do a tombola with them.
The list is endless and most can be done with willing volenteers.
The school used to ask each class to bring in something different ie bottles for class 1 , tins for class 2 and so on.
          Good luck

We've just had a non-uniform day, and instead of money, children were asked to bring in stuff for the tombola or things which could be raffle prizes; we often ask for jars of stuff: a jar of sweets, a jar of hair bands, a jar of biscuist etc. You could do a similar thing with books: the children all bring in at least one book in reasonable condition to go on the book stand. Classes also have a competition to see who can bring in the most cakes for the cake stand: the winning class gets themselves an extra playtime. We also have a name the teddy game and a 'guess the weight of the cake' game aswell as all the usual games (plus the obligatory bric-a-brac stall). In previous schools, the school themselves have run a bbq and ice creams and drinks. A parent usually does face-painting and hair braiding.

Personally I'm not close enough, but possibly you could ask for plant donations from local grapes to make up a plant stall.

            Good luck!

Ooh! Just remembered. At my first school, each class gave donations of something different which the PTA then turned into hampers for raffling. E.g. one class might bring in breakfast things (jams, teas, coffees, whittards stylee cup and saucer), another might bring smellies, another might bring alcoholic, another might bring chocolate and/or biscuits.
They were all done up in fruit boxes lined with pretty tissue paper, covered in cellophane and wrapped with ribbon and looked fantastic.
              Just an idea.

Great ideas everyone. The ice cream one in particular. Didn't think to fill a freezer & sell them ourselves.
