  • It could be worse I suppose.....

Had a good look at the end of my greenhouse and most of the glass is crased and some bits have fallen out!
Couldn't understand why until I looked at next doors plot where the shed has been burned to the ground! The heat generated has not only smashed all the end panes in my greenhouse but set fire to the fence!

Apparently this all happened last night and the fire brigade were in attendance to this and another hut four plots away.

Both plot holders have been magnanamous about it, having lost all there tools to the fire but one maintained he was going to pull his hut down anyway and move it so they've saved him the bother (sounds like an insurance scam doesn't it?)

Funnily enough I was thinking of pulling my greenhouse down as well with the intention of using the remaining glass in an aluminium frame I already have at home (kids smashed all the glass)
I know it must sound a bit like the bronx round here but this is the first bother on the site in the two years I've been there.

Ho Snadger what a bunch of gits.
Its these darker nights you know, little sods running around, parents having no idea what they are up to.

Hope you can salvage your stuff out of it all.

Like you say could be worse.... least you have stuff left to work with..unlike your neighbours.

Maybe something like this will create a community spirit type of thing, together you can only be stronger. All the best.

Well done for looking on the bright side. Still, what b*******!
I was feeling part of the scenery
I walked right out of the machinery
My heart going boom boom boom
"Hey" he said "Grab your things
I've come to take you home."

What a shame Snadger. I just can't stand the types of wastrels who do these things. But don't let them get you down. Pick up the pieces and get on with your own plans and leave them to their miserable plans. Good luck. Hope it works out well.

              Just an update......

One good thing that's come of this is that because the Fire Brigade were in attendance they informed the Allotments Officer who paid an unexpected visit to the site. Not a happy chappie!
All unused calor or propane bottles are now being taken from the site ( must be 30 or 40 bottles waiting at the gate for collection) and the burning of rubbish rules have become more stringent. I think some of the uncultivated allotment holders may be getting there marching orders if an effort isn't made also!

Glad something good has come of it, and that you are able to take it so well - but this sort of thing shouldnt happen in the first place. How many times do we have to endure such vandalism ... grrrrr!! still, onwards and upwards Snadger, the final outcome sounds like a good one.
