I've got IT and have had IT for a whole 7 days now. I'm hardly ever ill and if I get something, I usually fight it off in a couple of days. IT is a bit nasty, as Bride says... lots of soup is my tip (not that you should take any notice since I've still got it, and so my 'cure' is a load of bobbins).

don't feel bad, there is no cure for IT! we ( youngest and i ) had it for at least 3 weeks, oh and i thought it had gone, right up until i started sneezing again last night neighbours has been off work for over a week with it, and now my mum has got it and i didn't give it to her.

lost of liquids, and honey and lemon for the rasping cough, if it goes to your chest hit the doctor up, cos they are dishing out steriods for this one.

Eek! Jackie. So sorry you have something (hope it's not the dreaded IT!), but I'd try to contact them about the interview...if you are a bit contagious, all those kiddies, and it's just near Christmas...rotten rotten timing for you, but I think I'd give them the chance to reschedule if you feel that bad.

Hope you're feeling better Jackie - this thing does hang about. I had it in September for about 2 weeks and then again last month - lasted 3 weeks until last Sunday and today woke up with sore throat, cough etc so it's started again.
I found that eating a small spoonful of honey really soothed the throat and stopped the cough for quite a while. I was using Sainsburys Spanish lavender blossom honey and it really worked a treat. I suppose it's because both lavender and honey have antibacterial properties. The stuff I've got now doesn't seem to work as well
I wish you better - now is not the best time to be ill - it's hard to feel festive when you fool like c***.

Jackie if you still want to do the interview & are still coughing but don't feel ill other than that I'd try drinking honey, hot water & lemon or Venos cough mixture as they'll ease the cough but won't knock you out. If you're not feeling well & think you're coming down with something then I'd ask them to postpone the interview.

My ribs hurt with all the coughing ! I made myself a cup of hot lemon and honey but what is the ratio ? I put in the juice of half a lemon and three teaspoons of honey and topped up the mug with boiling water. I have got some lemon and honey cough medicine, paracetamol and herbal Echinacea cold relief tablets. Will that do it !!!
