    Children's Bambo Fishing/Insect Nets

    Hi All,

    Hoping that you can help me.

    I'm doing a fundraising event this weekend to raise monies for the Alzheimer's Society. I was going to do a hook-the-duck game, but the hooks are too heavy for the ducks! So I need to change it into fish the duck out. This is where I need your help. I'm struggling to find good ol' insect nets like the picture. Any ideas where I can get these on the high street?

        Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately no where near the seaside. I'm practically in the middle of England. Only need 2-3 of them.

            I'm in Milton Keynes. There's a couple of fishing shops, but don't really want to buy anything too pricey. I'll have a look though. Thanks

              Hi Soomai could you get hold of some pairs of magnets (B&Q cupboard locks), put one on the canes and one on the ducks?

                Hi T8Ter, what a good idea. Wish I'd thought of that one earlier. I've managed to make some bamboo nets now so fingers crossed it all goes well this weekend.

                    Don't know if this will help when i was a little un, many moons ago my grandad made our fishing nets like this.
                    Take a bamboo cane, get some garden wire and some old tights, clean of course! cut off the toe section plus some excess approx 8 inches. Fold over the top and sew to make a hem through which you then thread the wire, leave enough poking out the ends of the tights to stick into the top of the cane to make the net.
                    The longer the piece of wire the more the tights will stretch to make it a bigger net.
                    These worked fab for us as kids.

                      Don't know if its too late but wilkos had them for 99p. I was in there to day.
