  • C'est Dimanche ~ parlez vous gardening?

    yeah, my French is merde.
How was everyone's weekend? I had an unusually restful and stress-free one. y'day was digging the lotty, today was taking littl'un swimming, then cutting out a new dress to sew.
Lovely lotty dinner, bottle of Shiraz breathing, then 5 episodes of Criminal Justice to watch on playback. With a break for Top Gear

    Bonsoir Two Sheds,

Not done much in the garden today - it has been dull most of the day and my little doggy is very poorly I think.

I did manage to harvest some French beans for dinner though

Son été un jour terrible ! Pluie, pluie et plus de pluie. Alors il s'est arrêté. Alors il a plu encore plus.

Ainsi j'ai mangé du chocolat et ai observé le tennis.

And now my brain hurts and I'm going to have some beer

Bonsoir, ca va? Right thats about all my French extends to!! Can speak German but the only French I know is what I've picked up on my travels. Popped over to our cottage near Saint Omer on Friday to cut the grass and drop off a truck load of logs that I was hoping to drop off last month, but the bloody fishermen were blockading Calais again
Had a bit of lunch in the town then shopped till I dropped in Auchen - that place is just amazing - got a box of about 15 oysters for 4 euros and a mixed shellfish platter for 3 euros, not to mention the wine........ hic.... Hoping to get out there for a week or so the week after next

Er - hi... are you surreptitiously preparing me for my week in France in a few weeks?? If so, it's fine - we are going where they speak Catalan.

Anyhow - weekend was plus bon. [making it up as I go along]. Went to the plant fair at West Bridgeford yesterday and got Origanum [Kent Beauty], some cotton lavender, southernwood and the OH got ornamental millet [like big sweetcorn but purple]. Had an hour and a half at the lottie before we went, and popped into town [got another pair of MBTs in the sale]. Oh got his summer sandals [in the rain of course].

Today got up early to take photos of the poppies and the above plants - and went back to bed for a couple of hours - so wet I decided against trying to do stuff. Did a bit of woodwork in the afternoon and by gum, what rainstorms. And now it's after nine thirty and the OH is watching the tennis from earlier.

Going to finish my coffee and have a long soak in the bath.

                Lovely.

Moi aussi! Mais - my primary age children are learning French at school and keep asking me to speak in tongues Doesn't help that middle daughter is best friends with someone who speaks fluent French!

Pretty cool weekend all told. Managed to get down to the plot on Saturday morning/afternoon and had my first harvest of the year (beetroot x3, broad beans x10, courgette x1 and potatoes x lots). Planted some melons, squash, tomatoes and radish. Checked over everything else and all seems ok (ish).

That evening went out for dinner - my brothers boyfriends' family (mother, father, sister and brother - isn't that a line from a song?) who we've never met before flew over from Spain. LadyWayne and I, my sister, her Fiance and his little boy, my Mum and Dad. Both LadyWayne and I were worried about them not speaking much English and us not speaking any Spanish (well, none worth mentioning), but we made the effort and got on really well.

Then yesterday did the usual shopping and getting ready for work, then sat down, watched the tennis (with a TopGear break in between). Was hoping to get out and cut back some of the hedges, but rain stopped play.
