  • Bulk lavender flowers???

I'm looking to buy a lot of loose lavender flowers for my daughter's wedding.
    I've seen some on e-bay for £28 a kilo.
Is that a good price...and what sort of size is a kilo???( cm x cm wise??)

Hi Nicos, I had lavender in my flowers on my wedding day.
I bought the lavender plants and had the flowers used - I still have the plants growing (hope they have been ok in all this cold) that was 16 years ago now. Cuttings are really easy so family and friends get a share of my wedding day flowers!

Do you need lots of flowers or some for arrangements?

I have just found this (admittedly in UK) there are a range of prices but you can buy 1Kg for 14.99 which is "about the size of a small scatter cushion"
Strangely enough some of it comes from Provence - Might be cheaper to drive down and collect some from the farms there
EDIT; Ooh, ooh, I feel a road trip coming on!

We had lavender flowers and delphinium flowers which we mixed for confetti. We had about 200g of lavender and 2 ltr of delphinium, which did 20 bags and then had about the same over again. All from ebay.

I warn you if you use it as confetti and it is thrown, it will get into places you don't want it to go. Everytime I went to the loo on the day I left a pile in the stall a trail of petals all round the hotel. Very pretty, biodegrable but itchy.

We had some coir pots, which came with compost and a wild flower seed disc. The idea being people could grow them and they would be a reminder of the day. Most people took one look and asked us what they were and what they had to do with them.

I use a mix of six scoops of compost three scoops of sand/grit and two scoops of perlite, the quantity is unimportant as long as the ratio is the same, if for seeds I use this mix, if I am potting on I add some blood, fish and bone, along with a small quantity of chicken manure pellets
