  • Books, general questions on age/values etc

Are there any bookies on the vine?
I have just moved a bookcase and went through the books on it. I have acquired over the years a fair collection, and have a couple of old first editions in various genre.
Does anyone know a website or a resource where I might be able to value or even age them, one in particular is intact and in good nick, but without any date in it whatsoever.
Thanks in advance for whichever wormy grape can help

There is a website which specialises in out of print books and first editions, but damned if I can remember the name of it!!! Maybe if you google out-of-print and go from there?

I daren't go through my book collection. I'm on a self-imposed buying ban at the moment, as I have at least 6 queueing up to be read and that's not including the reference section!!!

Abe Books is where I usually look, or ebay of course.

Many thanks for the replies, I shall peruse AbeBooks tomorrow.
Paul because I am sad and have no real life, the majority of my older books are militaria. There is a 1948 first edition about the Para's, which I bought for a few quid a good few years ago, and when I looked in it, I found a handwritten foreword by Bernard Law Montgomery, Viscount of Alemein. That one is going towards my grandkids education, as I feel it may be worth a couple of quid. The remainder arent quite as exciting.

Bob, you could also try some of the military auctions for your military books especially the signed one. Only know this as my OH collects medals and often buys this type of book for research.

                    Hi
The handwritten foreword sounds good. I do remember being told that any book by a german (translated into english, natch) on WWI/II generally hold their prices really well due to rarity value.
But otherwise I use Abebooks like the others
                    best wishes
