  • Bonfire Night Food!!!

I am planning on a bonfire night party this weekend for the kids and some of their friends as well as some family and friends of ours and am looking for ideas for food...

it has to be child friendly, bonfire or firework themes and of course some needs to be warm as i am in west scotland after all!!!

    suggestion appreciated!!!!
May the road rise to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back,
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
The rains fall soft upon your fields and,
Until we meet again, May God hold you in the palm of His hand

I like making hotdogs in buns with onions, then I wrap them in tinfoil and put them in a small cool bag (without the cool bit). They do keep warm for quite a while, though to be honest we normally can't wait very long to eat them!

Jacket potatoes always go down well. A warming soup, chilli.
      Gardening ..... begins with daybreak
      and ends with backache

Baking tatties - partially cooked and then wrapped in foil - put in the embers to cook through.
        Sausages.
Home made marshmallows a la HFW (or James Martin)
        Baked apples.
Whole corn on the cob, baked in the husk and tinfoil.
        Mulled cider punch type stuff.
        Popcorn.
Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?

good starting point with the tatties and hotdogs...

what about nibbles/fingerfood that will capture the kids imagination?

What you can get here in the market is a galette saucisse. It's a pancake wrapped round a sausage - tastes wonderful, isn't slippery, and keeps your hands nice and warm on a cold day!

What about toffee apples? I used to love those when I was likkle.

You could do something like homemade chips from slices of potato, sweet potato, pumpkin etc. for different colours & flavours & serve them in paper cones. If you don't want to make them as 'chips' you could bake them in the oven as wedges or even in foil in the bonfire but that may be tricky to judge.
Into every life a little rain must fall.

Fingerfood wise home made nachos are always a good option I think in cold weather with the chilli and also the warmth of them from being baked.
