  • Bond quiz....

As the nights are drawing in and as I've never watched a Bond movie (honest, action movies have never been my style) me and dh have decided to have a Bond Festival. We have BT Vision at home and they have "all twenty" (I'm assuming that's correct, no idea really) to download for £1.99 each. On BT Vision the films are listed in alphabetical order and I would like to watch them in chronologically. I'm sure I can find out on t'internet but if anyone can tell me before I do a search I can tell you if you're right... I have laundry to hang and dishwasher to unload before I start, so you have some time.
We want to start with the first one tonight.

Fantastic. All I need to know and much, much more. Dr No it is then - got mixed reviews when it was first released and Ian Fleming thought it was 'dreadful, simply dreadful' apparantly.
I hope it doesn't put me off watching the rest. May have to open a bottle of wine to see me through. Or should that be a martini on the rocks?

lol, you obviously haven't been watching all the Bond documentaries lately! Yep, Dr No is first, then I think Casino Royale (version I). The films don't go in order of the books, though, so it's no big deal if you watch them out of sync.

Watched Live and Let Die for the millionth time on Sat. GOD that film is funny with J W Pepper!

"You some kind of DOOMSDAY macheeeen boyyyy?!?!?" It triggered lots of catchphrases and giggles between me and OH later on, tee hee!

When we saw the list chronologically dh said 'you do know that if we do it this way we'll have to watch Sean Connery eight times in a row?'....
We decided instead to watch them in alphabetical order and so last night it was 'A view to a Kill'. It was ok, in an action-man sort of way - which is I suppose The Point. I even enjoyed the sexist jokes, which would NOT have sat well with me in my 30's (I'm much more chilled now).

LadyWayne has never been a fan of any of the previous Bonds (in fact I'm note sure if she's seen any of the other films all the way through) but she throoughly enjoyed Casino Royale. Personally I like the Roger Moore ones - but they were all Bonds of their time as far as I'm concerned.

Friend of mine is a big Bond fan (actually a big film buff full stop), and he always watches them all in sequence before the new one is released, but then he's mad!

i think that Daniel Craig is going to be one of the best 'bonds' really enjoyed Casino Royale but I keep thinking how much of that was bringing it more into line with reality (as far as it goes) no machine guns in number plates or underwater cars.

It would seem that Casino Royale is next ! Shaun Connery - its his voice, it just seems so contrived - it takes over everything else.

View to a Kill is one of my favourites! Agree with HW, they were all 'Bonds of their time'. The only one I don't really like is Sean Connery - the voice, the looks, just not sexy to me and not Bond-like. Roger Moore was ace!
