Default Beautiful Day

Hi
Was I just lucky or did anyone else enjoy the lovely weather today?
At long last, was able to spend a day in the sun, even enjoy my lunch sitting outside my allotment shed.
Got lots of weeding down in my big flower bed and lovely to see plants starting to poke through the soil like the bluebells.
Primroses and crocus flowering too - after such a dismal wet time when I've hardly been able to work on the allotment it was glorious to have such a day.
And when I got home the seed potatoes arrived, roll on the 2008 season!
best wishes
Sue

We actually had a touch of sun this morning. I spent all day on the plots but unfortunately am back at work tomorrow.

It was lovely here too. Took the dogs for a lovely walk, when I got home I realised I'd lost my house keys so the dogs got another walk while I was looking for them!

..are you still walking kirsty?

It was quite nice here too, what I saw from the office window that is. Weird thing on the way home though...All the roads were practically dry!?!

Today looks a little more overcast, but little in the way of rain hopefully.

I even managed to wash then line dry my OH's gardening coat, it can't be tumble dried and I had a real problem trying to wrest it off him as he thought he'd be without it for days. To be honest the horrible old thing - coat not OH! - needs chucking out, but he won't part with it and I'm not sure the council would take hazardous waste anyway. Still it's dry (and sort of clean again) now and he's happily gone off to the lottie this morning in it. It rained again in the evening though and it doesn't look too promising today, but still, having one of our days off turn out almost decent has to be something of a miracle.

Lovely here too. I had a little potter, moved the germinated speet peas to the greenhouse, admired and encouraged my garlic and broadies, then came in for some big-time sewing - quilting project on the go.

I'm tied to my desk today, client meeting here from 1000 to 1200, then another at 1400 but it's pretty kinda ok outside - I'm crossing everything for a bit of dry stuff so that I can go say hello to Donkey Hoety and Snowdrop can finish my fencing

No, came home in defeat having not found them! My very helpful neighbour climbed in through my window and let me in the front door. Can't find my spare keys anywhere so have got a locksmith coming to do a new lock on the back door sometime today. Thankfully still have a key for the front!! Good thing is, the Housing assoc we rent from are not going to charge me as its only one door that needs doing.
Going to get spares cut to leave with neighbours in future.

Locksmith just been. Yay! Can now get out the back door. Bit too late for the hounds though, they had done a little whoopsie on the floor by the back door
Can get out the back without walking round the whole row of houses now.

Stepped out of the door this morning and was amazed at how mild it was! By mid afternoon I'd heard there were brief snow flurries and when I left work at 5pm it was pouring rain, bouncing off the pavements........ it seems to have let up now, but I'm afraid that it's been just plain horrid up here this afternoon/evening.

Nice for ducks though, so I'm told!

Yesterday, it was still fairly "soft", only a few drops in the morning but it was very wet by hometime again. With lots and LOTS AND LOTS of traffic (just great - so it's wet, I'm late and traffic has gridlocked again). Luckily I had enough dried raisins, apricots and mangos in the car, although the toddler did empty the water bottle...

This morning, I came downstairs to find the moon shining brightly into the kitchen - which was cool. It was dry coming in (although I was still using the wipers as the roads were so wet and traffic was moving fast for a change - 15 minutes early makes a huge difference!!). But bitterly cold!!!

I am off (well, working from home anyway) this afternoon, so I might at least get a walk in daylight today. And I intend doing some planting over the weekend (peas for the office windowsill, leeks for baby ones, and maybe one pepper and one courgette to experiment).

It's an absolutely beautiful day today, but I'm stuck in the office. If it's like this at the weekend I'm going to have a real go at the allotment and garden. It will be the first time I'll have had a proper chance since April last year . What with the weather, other commitments and a sprained ankle.

The job here finishes tomorrow and the agencies haven't rung with anything else for me, so with any luck I'll have some time off to clear things up, plant stuff (had trips to Wilko and a garden centre this week).

Just looked outside, I can't see a cloud anywhere, of any shape !!

Yep, much the same here, glorious sunny day.

Guaranteed that it'll be rubbish by the weekend when I'm able to get out there.

Good luck Janie, sounds like you've had a pretty rubbish time of it lately.

The sun is shining here right now. What a lovely glow and don't tell me it's only January! Perhaps not a bad idea for a dash of early sowings . Another batch of tomatoes to go please!

It has been beautiful here in west sussex. i took my dogs for a lovely walk on the south downs and then went into Worthing to see the timber that has washed up from the wreck, it was quite a sight! i really should have been doing work in the garden as it has been so nice, but will have to put it off for another (sunny) day, whenever that wil be!

Today was a lovely day, sunny and dry. Was at work, but I work at a hostel with a big garden so managed to get out there for an hour and tidy up some of the borders (we don't employ gardeners). The sun was warm on my back, although the temperature really seemed to drop away around 3. 30ish.

Had a lovely walk and saw 1st snow drops of the year at the side of the road. Brought a smile to my face knowing that spring is almost upon us.
Managed to get out in my veg plot as you can see alot more diggin in to be done, but so loooking forward to doing it.
I've also got to move my comp bins so i can get one more bed in ready for the herbs as its in full sun. I only designed it last year I spent most of the year clearing the shrubs away to the front garden and then waiting for my birthday so my pressy would be wood & gravel and a few nails to build the beds. humm what can I ask for this year........wouldn't mind that lovely big field at the back ..
