  • Anyone around Bristol?

Hi folks, there is a possibility we may have to move to the Bristol area.

Madmax has been offered a job with Orange in Bristol and I would like to know a bit about the area.

    Anyone able to help please?
    Happy Gardening,

High crime rate (from vehicles) in certain areas, according to ex-colleagues, sorry, I don't know which areas . But that can be said for any place nowadays. A lovely place with plenty to do, according to friend who grew up there. A great and interesting place to visit - from me who used to visit friends who lived there! Hope someone else comes along soon.

Thanks for the responses folks. Really want to know a good area to live where there is lots of greenery (I am a country girl and don't do town or city life), but close enough for Madmax to travel to work at Orange easily. Are there places with big gardens or would I need to find a lottie? What are my chances of being able to bring my chooks?

have a go with Google maps and stuff Shirl. you can also see here for some nearby properties: Property for Sale in BS32 4QJ | UpMyStreet

upmystreet.com gives you basic info about the area too, like crime figures, age of population etc.

I can think of two lovely places chook, Chepstow and Caldicot, and you get the best of both worlds, close to Bristol, yet still in lovely Wales countryside.
I'm only here cos I got on the wrong bus.

Thanks for that link Two_Sheds. I will have a good scan of that today, in between putting my trees back upright - blooming wind keeps blowing them over.

Not sure where Orange are based, will ask Madmax later and add it to the thread.

Hope your maple is in a pot same as my falling over trees!

Neither I'm alf way between you and there. Used to do a lot of work around magor and caldicot, and they are nice picturesque villages/small towns.

Yeah it is, just gone and righted it - gets right breezy at times in the Vale.

How 'long' is Max prepared to travel to work, there's some lovely countryside around Bristol I reckon, even seaside on the Somerset coast?

I work in Bristol and commute from the Forest of Dean. I am guessing it is Orange at Aztec West as the company I work for does all there security and I started in the industry working there.
The Forest is only about a twent five minute drive(depending on time of day) 24 miles from me, and you will find the house prices quite a bit cheaper than Bristol. The only down side is paying for the severn bridge.
I am now based at are area office just behind Orange and I estimate with the bridge and diesel it probably cost £180 a month to commute.
