  • Any computer boffs in the house?

I used to be one and quite outta touch with it all these days. I brought a new laptop and it has a backup recovery partition on it and I was wondering if I create an Acer factory backup image, could I delete the recovery partition and use the the DVDs to restore my system if I have to or dose the partition work with the DVDs.

    I have Vista Home Basic

Do you have an activation Key for the Vista?

You would also need to make the DVD bootable.

As I understand it the options for recovery are:
Factory Default Image will restore the factory default from the hidden
      partition.
Backup from CD Media will restore the system from an image burned to
      optical disk.
If you have a user-created image on your HDD, it will also be shown as an
      option.
I would get this confirmed by Acer support especially ask if it effects your Warranty (usually not much of a queue), personally unless you are in a desperate need for the space I would leave it alone.
