  • Allotmenteering - isn't it fab?

My lottie is still almost entirely a mess of couch grass, bramble roots and bindweed but it makes me so happy! I've been down there today and (in no particular order of priority) I've seen a robin, recieved pats on the head from several older gentleman, noted that the plum tree I rescued from it's complete encasement in brambles now has leaves and blossom, given my son a ride in the wheelbarrow, dug out more roots than you could shake a spade at, planted some fruit bushes, got rained on, got dry again in the sun, whacked some grass down with my scythe thingy and day dreamed about the future.

I suspect such ravings might get funny looks elsewhere so it's very nice to be amongst fellow devotees
I was feeling part of the scenery
I walked right out of the machinery
My heart going boom boom boom
"Hey" he said "Grab your things
I've come to take you home."

      It's fab isn't it.

We are having a roastie with brilliant yorkies and then going down in a bit to do some weeding. I'm sure my old mates would think I was totally bonkers, but hey ho.

Seahorse....Yes it's just great! Don't care what the weather does, better if it's good- its just so nice to get to my plot...... even if I get mad at the weeds, lack of seeds showing through, too much rain, not enough rain. It is all lovely upon reflection.

There's a deep need in humans to be connected with nature and the source of our food and I really believe we have done ourselves a damage by cutting ourselves off from it. Now doctors are prescribing country walks to people.

It's mad. If everyone did what we did the world would be a better place! Megalomaniac? Moi!

Really though, you only have to try it to feel the healing of the soul that working with plants and being close to the birds and other wildlife can bring.
Whoever plants a garden believes in the future.

I arrived home on Sunday night, wet through, covered in bramble-scratches and barefoot (couldn't drag all that mud into the car) I was just so happy!
Into each life some rain must fall........but this is getting ridiculous.

I love it too, and even failures are good in a way, because they make space for you to grow something else instead!

Spending time on the lottie is definitely my favourite way of spending the day - unless its at home in the garden of course, or sharing a friends. There is absolutely nothing so restorative as fresh air, wildlife, and growing things, its just the best.
Life may not be the party we hoped for but since we're here we might as well dance
