well i discussed it with my partner and i have now put my name down for a allotment, there is a waiting list and im number 12, i know it might take some time but i feel good that i have put my name down for one,it will be a experiance thats for sure.

I put my name down 2 and 1/2 weeks ago I was number 12 on the list and have recieved a letter today offering me a plot! I have rang and emailed the council constantly and it seems to have paid off. I think they were getting fed up with me calling. -

I was out cycling (hubbs idea for me to get some exercise!) and I accidentally (on purpose) rode past the nearest allotment near us - think it'd be about 10mins cycle away, it's a big site and could peek over some of the low bushes. It seems so tranquil despite the busy main road that runs parallel to it and the nearby trainline.
Hubbs already said no to allotment - says I have enough growing space at home. I'd be concerned at not finding enough time to go to allotment - or maybe I'd be there all the time and never at home?

My OH said no at first for the same reasons; but we do love it there and he even insisted on going there every day over the Christmas hols, including Christmas morning, to give all the beds a good digging over or a good weed [as some beds had stuff on over winter] ready for the spring.Originally posted by Lemon View PostExcellent news GreenGas!

The first year is always going to be the hardest - work wise - but if you don't like it you can always give it back.
Darkcrystal - our list is about 12 long at the moment....whereabouts in the E Mids are you? Just being nosey....

Well Done Darkcrystal. Compared to some 12 isn't long at all, and because there will be a fair few on the list who don't really want one, or who have already found one elsewhere, then you might find you've a plot much faster than you thought. Our plots are currently going down the list at the rate of about 15 every 9 months, and this is on a site which rarely has free plots.Into each life some rain must fall........but this is getting ridiculous.
