  • Allotment spotters

My boss is renowned for being a tower crane "spotter" - goes back to his days as a salesman looking for potential sales sites.

Anyway, whilst out in the car with him one day I had "spotted" a number of allotments along our journey without really realising I'd been doing so - boss then bought up his crane spotting thing.

Earlier today I had a thought - are there such things as allotment spotters? Is there anyone that takes photos of all the allotments they see/come across? How many allotment sites are there in th UK?

It was a boring phone call - I had some time to think.

I usually spot them, the other day we drove past one right by a busy road & I was so grateful that ours is situated where it is.Have you noticed how although they're all based on the same idea that they're all somehow so totally different!

I always have to stop for a look if I'm going past allotments, and saddiod that I am I usually point out to anyone with me something that has been "done wrong" - like I'd know!!! Yikes, I'm turning into my Grandad!

When we were kids my dad was a fireman, whenever we went on holiday he had to go and find the nearest firestation and chat the them and take a photo. I thought that was boardering on the ridiculous. I can't picture an allotment spotter though, what do they take notes about, street name, number of plots, average size of plot, number cultivated...I guess there is one in every town they are called the secretary.
I'm only here cos I got on the wrong bus.
